Please share your speculation on when APUs might be able to deliver a high end gaming experience (max settings, 1920x1200+, 60+ FPS).
I've been following APUs closely since Trinity and development is going excruciatingly slow. I suppose enthusiast class APUs may only be a pipe dream :(
Apus would be great if Intel made better integrated graphics and AMD worked toward making 8 core apus for pcs other than in just consoles. Theyre also power efficient but that doesn't seem to be an issue now a days to a lot of people.
Probably never as that not what APU's are meant for.
As soon as serverside gaming is the norm and the graphics are pre-rendered..:(
Never...........The purpose of APUs is to be a cheap solution for people who can't afford "enthusiast" gaming rigs.
The should make apus for people who can afford enthusiast gaming rigs, but want the power efficiency of APU's.
That's what stuff like graphics switching is for. Have the APU do the stuff like web surfing and office work and the GPU do the gaming. Having a powerful CPU and GPU in the same package would be to hard to cool there is also the limitation of the system RAM.
