I have a 4 or 5 year old i7 930 rig that is still going strong...thanks to a few recent upgrades with a SSD, memory etc.,
I'm itching to do a build...only for a builds sake really, I'm just wondering if this is the right time or not... considering this time next year DDR4 chipsets may be more prevalent.
I'm really not feeling any need to upgrade from a performance aspect of my current system, though I do have slight motivation to move to a smaller case, with more connectivity than my current.
if your going to drop a decent amount of coin on your next build then i would suggest to wait for the next gen to be released and let the bugs be ironed out, then go ham.... if your more on a stricter budget wait till its released then you'll be able to get today's higher end parts cheaper. and as u said your current system meets pretty much all your requirements, and as long as everything still has driver support and all in working order, would be all the more to save a little more coin so you could splurge later.
I have had that itch as well. However, I would wait until your current build isn't performing up to your expectations, and then begin planning a build that you may want, perhaps in a SFF case.
I moved from a mid tower to a mini itx case. I love how much smaller my Node 304 is compared to my NZXT Apollo.
