I just don't want to be caught up in these server issues.
I wouldn't buy it, ever. The game has many other issues, aside from the server issues. It doesn't matter when you buy it, though; the game will patch, fixing issues for the game, no matter what time you purchased it. But, I would stay away from EA.

I would wait until a scene group puts out a crack so if you run into server issues then you can still play
Wait a month or two till you see headlines that Maxis has cleared the issues up.
I pre-ordered it and it sucks because the game is AMAZING, the servers and EA however suck some royal ass, it's saddening to see EA destroy great games.
*sigh* TBH the game is playable but only at night when server load is low otherwise you have to wait 20-40 mins to play a game you paid $60 for. Last night me and my friend finally got to play and had some fun, just let it be know some of the features are intermittent.

I really wasn't planning that, I was zoomed in so close I never saw all of it. lol
The best time to buy Sim City is when you've done everything in Tropico 4 which is $10 on steam rigth now!
