Yeah.... That's so you think your safe. lmao.
I wouldn't trust anything owned by faceballs farther than I can throw a whale. Every single thing you post will be collected by them even if there's encryption as it's their service.

They added it ages ago, after all the security issues it had when Facebook first bought it. It uses the same technology as signal so it should be trustworthy.

@Dexter_Kane but it was not end to end rather user to server, now its all the way user to user encryption from what i gather.

i am on the fence about this for one thing is a great move towards user privacy and security

on the other end they are owned by facebook

It was end to end for text, but everything else (calls, pictures etc.) was only encrypted between the client and server. I could be wrong but that's what I remember reading when they were talking about this technology a couple of years ago.

If it's end to end then facebook, or anyone else can't read it. If they're using some sort of backdoor or master key so they still have access then there's no point in them using end to end encryption. So i doubt they're doing anything shady. I think they just want to attract users as privacy and security are big issues at the moment. That was their original reason for using this technology back when facebook first bought it as there were a bunch of security flaws that came out and they had to do something drastic to avoid losing users for something they just spent a billion dollars on.

Of course fi you don't trust it you can just use signal instead, it's the same technology but unfortunately not many people use it, that's what's good about whatsapp using it, as everyone uses it.

Just to start a trend, here is the original article from moxie himself:
