Ended up returning a Nyth after 3 days and I would really like to try the Tyon. But the Nyth has left me a bit gun shy of the other Roccat gear.
So just wanted to see how the Tyons are holding long term especially with Win7 and non X99 systems(since the latest version of its software seems to be for X99 only)?
Maybe get a review on it since @Logan already has one
I've never owned a roccat product myself but a lot of my friends love them. One of them broke his tyon after a few months and he still buys roccat anyways (replaced it with a nyth) so take this with grain of salt
I currently have the Tyon but it is a bit uncomfortable for me. The right side is a bit too angular and bothers my pinkie finger a bit after a while.
What did you not like about the Nyth? I've been considering it, seems like a Tyon with better ergos and a bunch of buttons like the Logitech G600. I actually tried the G600, but it felt really inaccurate. (Yes, I know, it's an MMO mouse.)
The mouse I had before the Tyon was the Func MS-3, that was really comfortable.
The Nyth started forgetting its profiles the 2nd day I had it.
First day it worked fine just felt a lil weird after 6yrs of a Sidewinder X8.
Second day there was a software update so I updated then went to play some games and none of the profiles worked. Tried remaking the profiles that didn't work. Then I tried to make a ticket threw the Swarm software but kept getting the error "invalid PID" ( I guess product ID ). Fought with it a little more then uninstalled and reinstalled it. Can't remember if it work correctly after remaking my profiles or if I had to play with the Swarm software a bit more but it did end up working right after awhile.
Third day went to play some games and none of the profiles worked. Tried remaking the profiles again, tried opening a ticket again same thing. The Default profile hot keys seemed to be working tho so I was going to set them up and use the easyshift to switch to my game keys. The buttons on the side worked fine to what ever i set them but the easyshit and right tilt on the fin ( set for DPI cycle) would not work.
So I sent it back for a refund.
The ergonomics felt a little weird but I was getting used to it by the 3rd day. If you pick up your mouse you will have to remove some of the hot keys. I blanked out the 2 in the back of the middle row then used the double sized buttons for the rest. 12 was more than I wanted and to easy to miss click. Its very slick tho and not real easy to pick up but I would not have sent it back over that.
The Tyon layout looks alot better to me after having used the Nyth. There is an empty space you can put your thumb and the right side looks like it has a sleight concave to it (I could be wrong) so it may be easier to hold onto. The extra buttons look out of the way of the regular buttons but spread out so it will probally be easier not to hit the wrong 1.
That is pretty strange, I haven't had any major problems with the Tyon software.
The software has some strangeness to it though. I'm not sure how much of it is actually the software and how much is the actual mouse, or how much of the problems are shared between Tyon Driver and Swarm.
There is no separate brightness option for the colours, just on or off. If you have the RGB set to something that wouldn't logically be 100% brightness it is anyway.
Some of the buttons can't be bound to certain things. I originally wanted to have volume control on the little paddle thing, but it is pretty heavily restricted.
Macros don't have a repeat while pressed, or toggle infinite repeating, like the Logitech software has.
The colour flow option is weird and just jumps to some pre-defined colours.
The Tyon does have a bit of a concave area for the thumb. The buttons are placed pretty well, I have hardly ever pressed a button accidentally.
How long have you had yours and whats your OS and board chipset if you don't mind me asking?
Can you program shft+f1-f12 or ctrl+f1-f12 on the top 4 and the side fin ? I did like the top fin for my DPI cylce.
Is there a concave on the side opposite your thumb or maybe just angles back in toward the bottom so its easier to pinch and pick up with your thumb and 3rd finger? Just kinda of looks like it in the pictures on newegg.
The macros are nice but I can live without them and if they are supported in game I can just asign them to a hot key.
The RGB doesn't really matter to me personally.
I have had it since the end of June 2015. I was using a crappy old AMD AM3+ board before with no problems, switched to z97 at the end of the year, still no issues.
Had it with win7, and win10 (win10 beta too) with no problems.
The top 4 buttons can do shift+F1-F12, same with the fin. Yeah there is a little concave area on the side.
cool thanks sound like you started with about what I have
