Whats wrong?

I recently picked up a new processor for my gaming pc, an amd fx 8320, my other processor, an amd athlon X640 II had no problems, but it just bottlenecked my gtx 770, but now with this new one installed whenever I run Prime 95 or some demanding game like Borderlands 2 it just blacks the screen and i guess crashes, nothing works and holding the power button doesnt turn the pc off? and when im playing a less demanding game like TF2 every once and a while my frames will just stay at like 10-15 for like 5 seconds, and it'll stutter on skyrim(when it doesnt crash) so whats my problem? did i not do my thermal compound right? my temps seem to be fine. my motherboard is a msi 760gm-23 (fx) i have 8gb of ram and my powersupply is 600 watts. please if anyone knows it would help out a bunch.

It now just crashed on the desktop with only the internet running, im going to double check temperatures.

Just figured out part of my motherboard is at 100 degrees F on the desktop, could that be my problem?

yeah you mobo is probably the problem. those 8core amd cpu´s  are realy power hungry.

That mobo you have is an older one, msi´s newer am3+ 970 boards are also crappy., those 970 boards are an upgrade to their 760 boards like you have. But those new boards have realy weak vrm´s and well known overheating issues. Also the powerphase design is realy weak 4+1.

so im realy doubting about the quality of your current older mobo. probably overheating vrm´s causing voltage throtteling,  that could maybe the reason why your pc just  crashes.

I think you mobo is realy the issue. Better replace it for a Decent 990Fx chipsetboard from Asus. asap!!

grt Angel ☺

Before you change the Motherboard, try updating the BIOS as well, some motherboards do not come with native 8 core support and need a BIOS update to make it compatible. So I do recommend that you change the motherboard in the future, but until then see if that fixes you problem.

Thanks so much guys!
