I'm looking for a keyboard that won't slide around that has some weight to it and can be mechanical or membrane as long as the key doesn't feel mushy like cherry reds feel and is around $50 and that will last. is there such a thing? I recently owned a chroma but sold it and that usually wouldn't move at all but if you could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it!
Model M or one of it's clones, those are out of your budget though.
If you don't mind a little bling, I actually just picked up a Redragon USAS K553. Red backlighting, ten keyless (if that's an issue). It has Kailh Blue switches, which have a very clicky and tactile feel. The keyboard itself has an aluminum top plate which provides a solid feel and a decent weight. It's cheap, but so far I really like it, the typing is solid. Works for my budget gaming needs. It's definitely not something the keyboard snobs among us would necessarily recommend, but it works well for being only about 50 bucks.
I'm a total keyboard snob and I those switches are awesome. I've had conflicting data though. Are they 20,000,000 or 50,000,000 key presses? They have the perfect amount of resistance and a light but still full sounding clicky noise.
I can personally vouch for this keyboard mouse combo. Just think of the mouse as a bonus. I would pay 30.00 for the keyboard alone.
It's membrane but it feels so nice. It's not like other membrane keyboards. The mouse is really good too. The wheel is a little squeeky at times but I didn't notice it until I read reviews for it.
According to their website, which doesn't differentiate between colors, they're rated for 50,000,000. Yeah, I am really liking it so far. Been using membrane keyboards for years, even had one of those roll-up silicone ones for a while. The keyswitches feel awesome, the key travel isn't so long that I feel fatigued while typing, and since this one doesn't have the keyboard embedded in the frame the naked switch bases look really neat and minimal.
EDIT: Hm. Upon inspection these are actually Outemu switches. They seem very similar to Kailh and Cherry. My bad. Not sure how they compare to either one specifically, but for my purposes they feel great and I've actually increased my typing speed by a couple of words per minute.
