Whats the Best cpu for 775 MOBOS

Hello :-)

i have a 775LGA based pc . and im trying to upgrade it with my low budget .
 so far i have :

MOBO : MSI G41M-SP20 (MS-7592)

CPU : Intel Core 2 Due E6550 @ 2.33

RAM : Kingston Technology HyperX Blu 4GB 1333MHz

GPU : ASUS GTX 560 non ti

Cooling : CoolerMaster 212 EVO

everything is pretty good, but not the CPU. it bottlenecks the GPU badly.
some nice guys around here told me to go with the i32120 / Pentium G2120 (+upgrading my mobo) .
but i want to know , is there a cpu thats 775 LGA and it wont bottleneck the GPU? and if there isnt . whats the best cpu for the 775 LGA .

thanks :-)

overclock that CPU as high as you can, see how far you can push it stable to get the most out of it, you have a good heatsink USE IT! you *should* be able to up the FSB to 350 on stock volts giving you 3.15Ghz CPU  and 1400 ram, you can up voltage on ram up it by .1v

http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=E8400-R&cat=CPU

it performs about as well as a G620 sandybridge pentium chip, but cost $20 more, 775 is a dead platform it would be cheaper in the long run to go 1155 or even AM3

i dont know alot about OCing

but my current "Defualt" cpu Mhz (if thats what u meant) in the BIOS is "333"x7 (2.3Ghz)

putting it 350 will give me around 2.45

and i have no idea about tweaking the ram's voltage. any good guides?

and is my mobo capable when it comes to OCing?

thanks^^

I feel your pain, I'm still rocking the Q6600. I'm holding out for Haswell though.

Search on YouTube for guides on overclocking, they will give you all the info you need about upping the frequency, rebooting, adjusting voltage, rebooting, upping frequency, etc etc.

If end up still wanting to replace your CPU, E8400s and Q6600s are pretty cheap and plentiful.

are you using a good GPU with that q6600? and if so, is it bottlenecking it badly?

its a G41 so not really, your ram voltage is set to default either 1.5 or 1.65,

  • if 1.5, change it to 1.65
  • if 1.65, change to 1.75

you might not be about to get the FSB to 350 so try 340, if it boots to the OS the load Intel burn test for 10 runs on the highest setting you can put it on, if its good then up it by 5, repeat until it isn't stable, then reduce by 1 until it is

when i up it to 340 the pc doesnt boot up. it turns on for like 2~4 seconds then it turns off .. then on then off
untill i take off the BIOS battery and put it in again.. is that normal? :/

all i could get is 342x7 (2394) then the pc doesnt boot up ..

2.33 to 2.39 .. almost nothing :C

I had a q9450 and and a gtx 460 SE and the cpu was bottle necking my gpu.
