Whats a good videocard for video editing?

im trying to help my dad out on a video editing pc and we dont want a mac, any suggestions?

I'd definately look at what programs your father used and if they support the use of cuda cores, but from my insight if there isn't I'd invest more money into a processor and ram more so, and maybe a budget video card for multi-display if that were the case.

were going to be using adobe premeir and photoshop so your saying if they support cuda i should get nvdia.

Thats what I do a lot of and my gtx 460 works pretty well.. but I would save up and go with something a little better
