What would you most like to see in the next Fallout game?

I'm hoping a new Fallout game will be released soon, I can't stand it any longer.

So, assuming the next Fallout is on it's way, what features or improvements would you like to see over Bethesda and Obsidian's previous Fallout games?

I'm really not sure what I'd like to see, maybe a sprint option, perk, or almost anything that won't leave me slowly crawling through the waistland at a painfully slow speed, or an ending that allows you to keep playing (Unlike New Vegas).

Other than that, I can't see a whole lot of improvments other than going back to Fallout 3's more city-like setting.

So what would you like to see in the next Fallout game, and anyone have any rumours or articles teasing it?

I think setting it in a partialy flooded NYC would be amazing. Think freeside meets point lookout. They would have to cut down on the world size a lot to accomidate so many buildings, but I think it would be worth it. Also, I would like them to make the controls more FPS like, the TES style movement and controll is awkward in a shooter.

That would be amazing. I don't want them to stray away from Fallout's style though. Maybe eliminate the VATS glitch where the weapon is physically inside them, but doesn't hit them.

I really love Fallout's retro style, so an older, irradiated NYC would be very cool. I do want to have some wasteland gameplay though.

I must say that even if i really enjoyed Fallout NV i really miss the nuked city and the subways below it, so for me one of the most important parts is that it has to have the old Fallout 3 style (im having a problem finding the words for it but kinda like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NiAHktEN6aM ).

Another thing that i really liked about F:NV and F3 is ofcourse the sidequests but mostly the random and brutal places such as:
*Anvale, the canibal village
*Paradise falls, slave village
*The random chick that tells you about how her dad cut off some guys leg with a chainsaw and laughed while watching him try to crawl around.
*Tenpenny being a "racist?" against ghouls

Basicly what im looking for is random insane places/people/events in the world.
Also i wuld really enjoyed if the side missions went a bit deeper than they have done before, i'd really like to explore more of the powdergangers from F:NV

And one of the most important thing for me is THE RAILWAY GUN! it just has to make a comeback in the next game.
Oh and i almost forgot Co-op wuld be awsome!

Yeah, co-op would be the shit, but as long as Bethesda is responsible for the game, we will have to rely on mods. New vegas was missing a lot of the atmosphere F3 had, and I would love Bethesda, and old school fallout fanboys to remove their heads from their asses and see that pure loonacy for loonacy's sake is not what made fallout great. New Vegas concentrated too much on being funny and invoking Fallout 2 as viewed through rose colored glasses.

Not that its worth much but I preffered new vegas over fallout 3, i am a huge fallout 1 and 2 fan though so I am a bit biased.

The thing I will always love about fallout 3 is that it took a series that meant a lot to me and turned it from niche nostalgia into widely acclaimed awesomeness.

I am betting a lot of younger people hunted down fallout 1 & 2 just because of 3

being controversial here...I do think the half and half fps/turn based kind of sucks, I would love to see it go fully fps under the rage3d engine.. now that would be a sight to behold.

I like the random events and unpredictable characters, but it shoudln't be a main element, and it definately shouldn't be the focus of the game. Fallout 3 had funny moments, but also a quite a great story and a more believeable and engaging environment.

Altough, if Bethesda's responsible for this game it should be more like Fallout 3, since Obsidian made NV....

I want even more weapons, and side quests. Side quests, side quests, and side quests of those side quests.

I don't think co-op would be great, they would need to impliment it very carefully or not at all. It'd be interesting though, but I have a feeling it would bring more bad than good.

I preffered FNV over F3 for months, but I just couldn't help going back to Fallout 3, and when I did, I realized how much I loved it.

Although Old World Blues and Lonesome Road are probably my two favorite expansions ever, aside from Broken Steel and Mothership Zeta.

I would love it if they included sprint or some kind of motorcycle or something. One of the things that causes me to stop re-playing New Vegas is the painful amount of eventless wandering that needs to be done.

A new game engine! Fuck that buggy mess of an old jacked up Oblivion engine! And with that, I guess some vehicles would be nice. Ability to make your own customized and customizable weapons from scrap (I'm sure there was a mod that allowed you to do something like that in New Vegas). More random and interesting events and people.

I like the idea of maybe being able to find weapon attachments, I know you could purchase them in Fallout NV, but it'd be nice if you where able to find things like that laying around.

Not sure about vehicles, it might ruin the whole Fallout experience-kind-of-thing, although if they somehow switched vehicles and fast travel that might be interesting. Maybe like an old NYC metro station that will take you around and under the city, but can't access some parts, unless certain side quests are completed to repair the track or switch...

I agree with new engine, I do like the art style though.

You need to get a job at Bethesda, Walrus.

I'd love that. I wonder what age they hire at.... Lol

Nice thread, I've played all of FO3 and just got into New Vegas and finished the Old World Blues DLC (great DLC BTW, sooo many Venture Bros. refferences, plus James Urbaniak for extra awesomeness). I could write a big ass book for this thread, but I'll try to make this quick.

Vehicles would be nice. Not necessarily for the mobility factor, but just for the immersiveness and completeness. These games already have everything else you could think of from real life, why not vehicles? They could have durability, upgrades, weapons, etc., but should be limited on where they can go.

An effing sprint button. Going from Skyrim to New Vegas, I'll be trying to run from someone and hit shift (my sprint button in Skyrim. Why alt, Skyrim, who uses alt?) and all the sudden SLLOOOWWW MOOOTIONN. They could limit it, can't sprint with a weapon out, max speed determined by total carry weight, even stamina like in Skyrim, or use Action Points, since they only have one other use, and some people don't even use VATS (I personally think it's awesome).

Mod weapons with random junk. May require schematics, skill requirements, whatever.

Better crafting item balance. I have over a hundered scrap electronics, scrap metal, wonderglue, and wrenches, but I can't make any Weapon Repair Kits because duct tape is so fucking rare.

Rebuilding your character. The game already takes hundreds of hours to play, I don't want to put hours and hours into a character just to realize that I don't have enough agility to get that one perk I really want. It could cost something ridiculous, maybe a literal arm and a leg, 340 undecillion caps, who knows?

Clean up the graphics a bit. Like, a lot a bit, like a whole bunch, just a little, some. I don't want to be able to see behind a texture unless I'm using TCL, I don't want to see super-low res textures right next to high-res textures (check out the mounted rocket outside Repconn Test Site). I don't want to see piles of dirt floating a foot above the ground. Double-check yourselves, Bethesda, lest ye wreck said selves.

I agree with the grapchical updates. I like the art style, but the textures and texture popping are horrible.... They do need to clean it up a lot. If they impliment vehicles, it should be Fallout's style. Maybe car dealers with greedy fat cats that run them, sleezy salesmen, etc. And the vehicles should be cool stuff, like old Cadilac's, tri five Chevy's, 59 Impala's and that sort.

I really want to see a better FOV (one that is integrated into the menu system and properly supported) basically a game that's ported to consoles not from consoles. I think the combat system could use an overhaul but for me Fallout has always been about the story and the characters and the world.  I think it will be popular even if they don't fix the graphical issues.

I'd love to see some dynamic weather effects, like thunderstorms with heavy rain that reduces visibility and blinding flashes of lightning, coupled with making the nights a bit darker it would add such an extra awesome atmospheric feel to Fallout. That being said, nights need to be darker. NV was so bright at night, it was like having a street lamp above my head the whole time, didn't even need to use the pipboy light.
