What would be my best storage option here?

Hey guys hope this is the right place for the post, as I am very new to this forum.
So my question is about storage, I currently have a Corsair Air 540. I decided to do a custom loop which I love however in doing so I lost one of my 3.5 in bays on the bottom, and now am currently running a 500 GB WD VelociRaptor as my boot drive in a 5.25 in hot swap I had laying around, a 1 TB WD black for my steam games, and a 750 GB notebook drive in the 2.5 in cage the case has in the back. And I am now currently out of space on all my drives and was looking at possibly doing something like this

and switching my boot drive to a SSD and going with something like 1TB WD red notebook drives in the other five slots.
Now a NAS is probably not in the cards due to me not really knowing how the network will be set up in my new apartment, but are there any other options for mas amounts of storage that I could do externally, and still have fairly decent speeds when accessing that data?

I've dealt with a few other similar enclosures and they almost always had loud annoying fans. You can usually work around this by replacing the fan or soldering in a resistor but just something to keep in miind.

The fan was a little concerning on the bay device, however it does have a low, high and off controller. Are NAS drives rated to run in higher temp environments?
