What would be good DRM

what do you people think would be good piracy protection for games? things such as 3 time installs and # of authorized computers at 1 time are bullshit, i personally think that if each CD was tied to its own CD-key, it would reduce piracy since somebody has to go out and buy the game and then upload his own key, and it would destroy keygens...

They can't do that, because they can't keep track of every CD-Key, and why end pirating, It's just like renting a game, or stealing a crappy game, or stealing a game by greedy publishers like EA and Microsoft. You'll probably pay for it later, or if the game is crap, then it's not wortth your money, and EA and microsoft still make an unbelievable shit load of money. You really think anyone should pay for Halo 2 Vista?

i know, i pirate shit a lot, but i just thought they could of come up with better alternatives than screwing over paying customers, yeah i guess the tied cd-key idea is impossible... i have halo 2 vista, but good thing is i got it for "free" from a friend when i gave him a defective moto KRZR, horrible game. mp menus lag like crazy on a respectable rig

what a good solution? first off, corporations need to stop being greedy fucks. make the games REALLY affordable. $40-60 a game is such a turn off to me. second, make games purchase worthy of it's price tag, so even poor fucks like myself can afford it. just because we save up for a good computer doesn't mean we're entitled to spend $50+ for a boring game like crysis, just because it's pretty. no, fuck that. it took me forever to save up my $800 because i couldn't find a real stable job, just did off the books non-taxable work. and finally, don't think making piracy protection harder means shit. there's always a flaw and a way to beat the system. pissing off your customers doesn't help you out one bit.

Exactly, DRM sucks, I don't fully pirate game unless I plan to buy it in the future or it's really old or it sucks. Plus games should be $30. By the way, welcome to RTW.

DRM=fail....always

as kokun stated games should cost from $20-$35 so i can afford more games

and really the only type of drm that works right now is steam its the best and valve is not a greedy company like EA

when vlve sold left 4 dead for 50% off last week they made more sales then the day of its release and the fat guy the ceo of valve forgort his name said that cheaper games make for more sales he said valve games will be cheaper later on

also optimize games for every computer os everyone can play (crysis) again vlave takes a monthly survery of people's pc and see there specs

they see whats the average pc and they optimize there games for that

what the hell is a DRM?

a DRM is a pain in the ass.

Think dummy, if 1 key was tied to the 1 disc then you can just copy the game and everyone had the same key...

I totally agree

games are so expensive because theyre so much harder to make now. u need more skilled artists, AI, physics, etc.

you can still make nice profit with games under $40, as well as being loved by the consumers for making (a hopefully good) and cheap game. like TF2 and CSS, great games for so cheap. it's just that in capitalist america, the object of business is to make as much as possible. greed or fail. that's the motto most companies go by. they don't fucking care about us. it's already proven that as long as someone is willing to pay $60 for a game, they will charge us the $60 for that game.

the people making the games still get paid regardless. it's the fat big wig fucks who bitch about not getting every fucking penny out of us.

And they want your money to CONTROL you. You see, "it is the international system of currency that defines the totality of life". If they can control the currency, they can control the totality or your life. Therefore, pirating games is like saying, "screw you, nobody should pay for this shit." Sure they might say, "what about the workers, they'll be broke," but they don't care about them. you see, money is a fucking green piece of paper with no sort of backing. So it's just paper. If everyone denied the paper's value, then, well, it wouldn't have value. And since money=debt, there would be no more debt. So I say we pirate every damn game we set our eyes on!

some games will get my money because i feel they are worth it. but there's nothing but truth in the rest of your post.

lol yeah I got carried away. Still, from now on I will pirate every EA and Microsoft game, but pay for all my valve and Infinity ward games. I'll also pirate epic games because CliffyB can suck deez nuts.

i honestly didn't know who he was until mentioned in other posts here.. lol but i like how he understands the consumers much better than many other company top dogs.
