I just recently purchased a powerline adapter as I thought that it would be faster than using wireless. I even chose one on a reccomendation I got here. However, when I had it delivered and used it, it was disastrous. It somehow managed to be achieving 1-2Mbps whereas I was getting 35Mbps on the computer directly connected to the internet. I even downloaded the SpeedTest.net app for my phone and managed to get 11Mbps in the same room as my new computer onto that, I'm assuming I would be able to get more on my computer as it is better hardware.
So I came here to ask for advice on which wireless Adapter to get.
they're functionally the same with your current internet speeds, however, you could consider a wireless usb adapter as they do just as well and typically only cost aroun £5.00, and are easier to install as you need not open your case
I didn't know if they would be able to achieve the same speeds as a PCI adapter. Also, I don't mind having to open up my case, it would only take up about 5 minutes so doesn't make too much difference.
At as low of a speed as you are getting, a USB card is plenty man. And as for the powerline adapter, were you plugged directly into your router or into a powerline block? Some walls just have dodgy connection, so if it wasn't directly into your router, I would suggest trying a different socket on another wall.
I was only getting those low speeds when connecting using the Powerline, on the computer that we have in my hosue that is directly connected to the router we are getting 35Mbps, which I wouldn't say is low. And I have already returned the Powerline Adapter because when I woke up the morning after I first installed it and tried to use it, it had just broken. I had gotten sick of it at that point, especially with the low speeds, so I just returned it.
