Do any of you use hotspot shield? If so how is it?

I just installed hotspot shield and used the free trial and I seem to be getting a slower speed... Not sure if this is hotspot shield's way to force you into paying or some fault on my end

I have the same question. I actually signed up just to ask what vpn should I  go with to prevent network shaping and throttling?

I have my own VPN setup on my network at home. Seeing Earthlink has been very good to me I don't need an actual VPN. Reason why I have mine setup is so I can access my server when I'm not home. I also like having my internet traffic encrypted on unsecure wifi networks.

So i purchased the VPN from the link above and these were my results:

--Pre VPN, ping was 32ms, down 18.02mbps, and up was 4.94mbps

After i installed the vpn but did not restart the browser or the pc this was my result,

--Ping was 46ms, down 16.05mbps, and up was 14.01

After restarting the browser and the pc this was my final result,

--Ping is 22ms, down 34.23, and up is 5.18

Overall I'm really satisfied with these results and plan on keeping the VPN, right now I'm using a very poor wifi access point but will have my pfsense pc back up and running tomorrow so it will be interesting to see if anything changes.

Private internet access is working awesome for me... I go from about 2-3mb download to about 20 mb download.. my upload is about 2mb and stays the same on a vpn. Dont buy HMA

I'm also a fan of Private Internet Access, I tested 3 other VPN's and PIA was just the best and most reliable.  They have a sale going on now (slickdeals?) where its $32 a year.

I currently use UNBLOCK-US, 

but I mostly only have it because i am an american living in Italy. the internet here is horrible but i am able to still do some online gaming and stream netflix/hulu plus on multiple devices at once with no issues, the best bandwidth i have seen so far has been 21 down and about 2-3 up on adsl... there is no software its all done through DNS and its $5.00 a month so i have no complaints
