What types of games could i run with my laptop

i have a HP ENVY dv6-7213nr Notebook the spec below in the link

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03507170&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=4158&product=5314575&sw_lang=

im wondering what games i could get in to with my laptop in a week i will be upgrading my laptop from the current cpu to a A10-4600M and i have already upgraded the ram to 8gb of ddr3-1600

you could play Dwarf Fortress, Half Life, maybe half life 2 on medium settings, and Fallout 1

oh very nice :D what about racing games like grid or dirt 3

lol nope. It would struggle at a tiny windowed resolution on min graphics with those games. Maybe you could get to the main menu, but your laptop will overheat before you get half way through a race, and then throttle, and leave you playing at 3 frames per second.

oh damn that would suck lol but thats why i ask first before i try anything :D

this is my first apu upgrade laptop build anyways how do i go about looking up and seeing if games will run on my laptop anyways just curious

can give you a general outline on whether or not a game will run. Its accurate for the most part, but it doesn't take into account driver updates or overclocking, aka I could get my lenovo y570 to run Metro 2033 even though it shouldn't, since I overclocked it. (which i don't recommend btw, I actually caused physical damage to the mainboard by doing this, it still works, but its a bit jittery sometimes)

ya i do use that site a lot but i don't think its very accurate tho

It doesn't seem to be too accurate for notebooks.

Civilization V and possibly Beyond Earth. For indie Shadowrun Returns/Dragonfall games are good and have tons of player made content to add tons of replayability.

HL2, older sports games like nba2k13 or below, dirt 2 probably, some of the street fighter and mortal kombat variants, plus heaps of fun indie games. Doom3, quake as well. Be sure to get the original Deus Ex if you dont already have it, its gaming gold.

About the best thing you can do to that laptop is either put in a faster mechanical hdd (7200rpm), a ssd or even a hybrid ssd/hdd drive. Just cause the pre-installed 5400rpm drive is painfully slow.

oh ya differently but that will come later down the road 500gb ssd is what i plan to get :P

i been hearing alot of deus ex i think i should look in to it and doom also and i use to play hl2 on a 10year old laptop that use to run xp :P

if your lucky BF4 low 20 fps???

haha im not even going to try lol

thats why i have a high end pc i do my hardcore gaming on anyways laptop for temperory use when im travaling the laptop is also my work laptop that i use 95% of the time while im working testing hdd an all that so ya

thanks for all your info it is nice to no what you all think my laptop is capable of doing with games when i upgrade it here this week or weekend :D
