What intel cpu do you recommend I get for this mother board? Would i5 be ok?
this is my first build...

3570k

what kind of games are you going to get?

It's the same board I have. I put an i7 3770, 4x4g RAM at 1866 10-10-10-28 1t timings. Non-k's can go up to 4.1-3 depending on program. i7 is a bit overkill for me, but I have no regrets. Board is standing up to my abuse so far. i5 would be fine if your budget is tight. I vote i7, can never go wrong with overkill.
well I play a good selection of games all around. As of now I have things like bioshock inf, skyrim, saints row, mc, far cry 3, dead island and others
You can go wrong with overkill when you put a locked CPU on an unlocked motherboard.
well if this is his first build i don't think going all out would be the thing to do
Yeah, might be right but I was just adding my opinion since my first build was an i3 530. Felt like it didn't take too long to become outdated. Fun to overclock though. If op is not overclocking/mild oc, then non-k is worth the 20$ saved.
Is saving $20 worth the year you will lose of possible performance that you will have to spend another $2-300 on another CPU? NO.
I don't even utilize all of my cpu at stock clocks since it is purely a gaming rig with a single gpu. If I want that big of a performance gain, I will unfortunately have to upgrade anyways. Besides, aftermarket heatsinks ain't cheap.
May I add I most likely be doing live streaming with it. Will the CPU make a difference in performance while streaming between the i5 and i7?
It shouldn't matter. Best get a decent heatsink though, just for reassurance.
Thanks guys ! You have been a big help. I will either go with the i5 3570k or the i7 3770 I guess my funds will pick one near the end of my build!
Forgot to ask. What kind of gpu will be paired with this?
DO NOT get a 3770. It is absolutely pointless to get a locked CPU in this modern era, unless you are building a professional, or business oriented build. For gaming, you will want to OC. You should OC. Get an AMD 8350, and invest the saved money into a decent heatsink to OVERCLOCK.
It sounds like he is leaning towards the 3570k, due to budget. Overclocking does help, but I am not sure if op is oc'ing. Can hit 4.2 no problem with a non-k, there is some benefit to going higher but we are not sure how comfertable he is with messing with all that. Intel does good with overclocking RAM atm as well, but there are a lot of decent options out their right now. I was basing my reply off of his choice of motherboard, which I happen to own and have no issues with my setup while gaming (bf3, etc.) If he pairs it up with a strong gpu I am sure he will be happy.
Get a 7870 XT instead, and mine Bitcoins for profit, or to help the TekSyndicate team. A 7870 XT will be more powerful than a 660 :|
