What to do with pc when it arrives

Hey 

so i finaly ordered my pc and the last 2 parts are expected tommorow or the day after 

i have a old hardrive i salvaged with windows xp preinstalled so i thought "eh at least i dont have to spend 80 on the operating system" which was alright cause i was gonna use mavericks but i have a question that could also benefit other users what to do when you build it and it boots? install the drivers? go to the bios and check everything?

i was planning on downloading the g force experience and getting the drivers all at once but will that work?

and kinda a reddit moment but can someone explain like im 5 and tell me what drivers are?

my order:

1. install nic, motherboard, etc drivers

2. install windows patches

3. run ninite, get all programs installed, install office, etc..

4. tweak personal settings.  get nvidia driver installed.

 

lol, a driver is software that communicates between the hardware and OS.
