I bought a Lenovo ideacentre 620S a while ago and I’m trying to figure out what to do with it. I have another machine doing big things so this would be smaller things, and I also have a smaller one running plex so silent I want to add a led or something to it so I know it’s on.
It has a Intel Core i5-7400T, 4C/4T running in 2.4GHz. Right now it only has 8GB ram but I’m gonna put some more in it later. It has one 1TB 3.5" HDD, one 16GB M10 optane, and a key E m.2. It also has a x8 pcie.
One version comes with a Nvidia 1050Ti which could be a bit fun, but I have a better graphic card in the bigger machine.
After a bit of thinking earlier I figured out I could run two nvme on a pcie adapter, but by then I had forgotten why I wanted two drives.
In the near future I’ll have a spare Nvidia Tesla P4 with a cooling fan that might fit. Might have to get the bigger power supply because by looking at it from afar and not actually reading the label I’d guess it’s the 65W I have and not the 170W. The P4 draws as much as a 1050 Ti so there shouldn’t be any problem there. Might get hot in there though.
Now I only have to decide how much ram I need. Supposedly it can do 64GB, but officially only 16GB. (Weird though. To do 16GB in can do both 2x8GB or 1x16GB.)
This is a sata power that can handle a hdd. Wonder if I can find a connector to it and power a ssd and a fan from it instead? In that case I’ve figured out how to put my Tesla P4 in this.
