What to do with all of these mid-capacity M.2 2280s?

The recent drop in storage as well as previous splurge on geek-squad openbox Samsung 970 Pro’s in 256GB has left me with a pile of 2280 M.2 drives and no real good use for them.

As I prep to retire my 1920x Threadripper I’ll no longer have a system that supports VROC RAID and PCIe 4/5 is/will be more than enough for my modest test lab needs, I find myself wanting to put these to good use.

I have 4x 970 Pro 256Gb, 2x 970 Evo 512GB, 2x ADATA sx8200 500GB. I need a box with 10GBE and the ability to JBOD across 8-10 M.2 interfaces!

Should get you started…budget is going to be ‘interesting’ for 3tb worth of nvme…

I would resell them and look into getting two kioxia 4tb u.2s …
Unless you need it to specifically test some aspect of the nvme protocol/platform…

You can donate for Christmas to a few randomly selected people from the L1 community.

You can send it to @wendell and he will use it as rewards for people.
