What to do, what to do

Hi all,

I'm on a journey to shave my neckbeard but I'm not sure where to start. I'm pretty much a tech noob outside of basic functions and a few advanced things. I'm basically broke, no job, and little money to my name. I spent most of what I had left on some work clothes. I really want to start the one month challenge and get my own web server going.

But I need more money to buy PC parts. I also must babysit about three days a week so that put's a strain on my schedule. I could probably ask if I only had to babysit twice a week but I'm not sure if that's even an option.

So here's what I have to do:

Babysit 2-3 days a week.
Get enrolled in college and or computer certification.
Get a 9-5
Get an apartment. (I'm living at home atm. I mentioned the neckbeard right?)
Get a girlfriend
Also work on side projects and enjoy what little (if any) free time.

I have been researching tech jobs and one thing that many people say is that you need a Github account to help you get and keep a job. The babysitting MUST be at least twice a week pretty much ALL day. That part is pretty unavoidable. HALP! This beard is scratchy and I don't want it anymore!

"Babysit 2-3 days a week." This really tightens your schedule, could you get out of it?
"Get enrolled in college and or computer certification." GG
"Get a 9-5." Know any friends who own a buisness?
"Get an apartment. (I'm living at home atm. I mentioned the neckbeard right?)" Dont bother. Stay at home, it's cheaper.
"Get a girlfriend." Why bother right now?
"Also work on side projects and enjoy what little (if any) free time." GG

Unavoidable. It's kinda my whole reason I get up every day.

Will do that tomorrow first thing in the moring

Kinda need that before I can do much of anything else

I'm living at home with NO privacy and not much of a place to put my server. I could figure something out but the server would have to be pretty small.

It's not a top priority but it is one. Also, I've been almost completely celibate after my divorce. So yea... Couple of years now. Had to let that one heal up. I was super angry with most women for a long time. I've finally opened up to the idea of looking for someone new about a month ago. Once again, not a top priority but it might explain why I've been such an asshole as of late.

Hmm. ok

Good luck!

Sucks doesnt it?

yeah..... but cash?

yeah..... but cash?

I know some people can't live without a partner.
Honesty, i dont think there is much you can do that you arent already.

Here's my plan, let me know what you think.

Take the rest of today to organize my things and thoughts. (It's been a tough couple of weeks)

Go to school and figure out a what my schedule will be.

I also want to get a job at a local wine shop so that I'll have products to review on my new YouTube channel (still working out the specifics)

I already have my sights set on a shop. I schmoozed with the manager. He told me buy a specific book. I did. I started reading it but then I started freaking out because I have all this other stuff I have to do. But the job pretty much needs to come first if I'm to function in society. It will give me products to review for my channel, give me money for other things like my new server and just get me out of the house.

Then of course there's school and the fact that I have about 100.00 USD to my name. I've already borrowed all I can for the work clothes and shoes. I was also thinking about moonlighting as a bartender again. I miss doing bottle flair. Also, tips would help my financial situation go much more smoothly.

And ya, girls can wait I suppose.

Very good idea.

Yup, good idea.

Sounds good.

Yeah...

Sounds cool.

Tips are very nice. Pro tip: (no pun intended) Talk to people. They love crazy stories. Im sure you have experience, but man it always gets you more tips.

Cool. Thanks for the input. I was really lost and just going in circles for the past few days trying to make everything work. I think that's what I'll do. Thanks again. I'll check in again in a few minutes and then again in a few hours. I just need to go for a jog and reboot my mind. The stress has taken it's toll on my ability to think.

Have a good jog!
Dont forget to get a good sleep, it really helps clear your thoughts.

Thanks man, you've always been cool.

Thanks.
Bows humbly.

The following is not meant to be offensive:

You are kidding, right?
If you have not much money what is the value of an own web server?
If you really want to set up a web server for the challenge, get an old Raspberry Pi.
You don't have much time for the server? Man, setting up an NGINX web server
to show some HTML pages, takes less than an hour.

If everything made sense none of us would be here.

The "right" woman isn't expensive - growing a family is expensive as everything goes up in cost except the tax breaks (kids etc).

Getting a 9-5 will be your number one priority for all of these things. Apply everywhere. It doesn't have to be in tech just yet. What is the need for babysitting, by the way? If someone else is dumping their child on you, you'll need to stand up and say that you have a life as well and need to make some cash and get your life moving. After being established, start with your other stuff like a web server, products to review, etc.
If your house doesn't have walls, you can't decorate them. Set up a list of things that you absolutely NEED to have (sustenance, shelter, transportation, etc.). As fun as it might be to do product reviews, you'll need to throw it on the back burner until things are sorted out. You'll feel great once you start bringing in your paycheck each week (or every other) and seeing your account stack up until you can afford that nice apartment with room for your server and some extra stuff.
I truly wish you good luck, my friend! Keep us posted!
