Higher end gpu??? >>> gtx780, r290. will depend on your budget of course, you would still get a fair amount for your existing card.

yea thats what i was thinking, maybe a 780ti, I really want to get better performance from Heavily modded Skyrim

Try to find a card with 6GB of VRAM, otherwise it won't perform quite as well in a heavily modified Skyrim. Those textures just murder your VRAM.
