VLC
Antivirus
MS Office
7-zip
Skype

speedfan
I think we should have an "official" recommended software list, for Windows, Linux, and OSX.
If you're on Windows, get:
- Foobar2000
- VLC
- Jitsi
- Firefox, Chrome, and Opera
- MalwareBytes
- CCleaner
- MSI Afterburner
- CPUZ, GPUZ, and HWMonitor
- Steam
- 7-zip
- KeyTweak, if you want to go to DVORAK, or make macros
- Nvidia or Catalyst drivers
- Paint.NET
- Vuze
- Libre Office
- Adobe Reader (evil company, but still the best PDF viewer)
HWinfo64 best monitoring software IMO.
Definitely get Foobar2000 for music.
- photoshop
- vbox
- teamviewer
SumatraPdf is the best pdf/mobi/epub (bunch of other formats too) reader in my opinion. Also teracopy is a pretty killer app.
Oh God do I hate Vuze
1) firefox
2)Steam
3).rar reader
4) Photoshop or gimp
5)Open office
6)Overclocking/hardware management tools
So do I, µTorrent is so much smaller and faster.
And rainmeter
Here is my windows software list:
- Foobar2000 or AIMP3
- Media player classic with SVP
- TOX if it is ever released (a program by /g/ to replace skype that is libre and runs on any platform)
- Firefox, Chromium
- MalwareBytes
- CCleaner or BleachBit
- CPUZ, GPUZ, and HWMonitor
- Steam
- 7-zip
- Nvidia or Catalyst drivers
- Gimp
- qBittorrent, tixati, or halite(if you can get it to work right)
- Libre Office
- Adobe or foxit Reader
isn't MsI afterburner for MsI cards like winrar better then 7zip
7zip trumps WinRAR in every way, and MSI Afterburner works on pretty much all GPUs.
Check out ninite.com first thing for software, its awesome. You can choose what software you want and the installer will install all the selected software and avoid the bloatware automatically.
qBittorrent is best torrent client for windows right now! I used to think that utorrent was the best but new versions of utorrent are just bloated! Also you sould install defraggler to defrag your HDD :) Don't defrag SSD :D Handbrake is also nice program! And for playing media use VLC, for your music foobar2000 is best option....
I would personally say
- 2 web browsers (in my case chrome and firefox)
- antivirus (AVG, or something you might pay actual money for)
- steam
- Itunes
- VLC media player
- bittorrent, or i know some use Utorrent
- microsoft office
- (just me) microsoft visual studio
- teamspeak or other similar
- Skype
- Photoshop
- WinRar (eh, i'm familiar with it)
- daemon tools lite
- Fraps
- MANY GAMES!
- Java, adobe flash, various drivers etc. etc.
adblock plus for firefox, and HTTPS finder, then set it to not ask you everytime
- Itunes is joke! foobar2000>itunes

It simplifies installs, and most of the programs you'll ever need are on there.
