OS X, it looks nice.
Just kidding, I say whichever is most stable, I don't know if you'll be gaming or care for speed on a laptop.
Windows xp sp3. and you can always dual boot or use a usb drive for ubuntu.
care to post the spec of ur laptop?
most laptops will do best with linux (because it's lighter) but i say stay away from vista it will make it ultra slow. Otherwise I think W7 would work best for you. But ultimately it depends on how powerful your laptop is.

he can always add more space and like i said boot from a usb drive or external drive
Xp- if you want no compatibility issues, and if u wanna game.
Windows 7- Good for multimedia, and gaming but has compatibility isues.
Mac - if you don't want any virus and for business purposes.
Gentoo
Windows 7
inb4 Jason saying to make an Arcade Machine out of it
Windows 7 runs very smooth on laptops, I got it on mine.
Just tell me if you are going for windows 7, I can send you a link to sumshit that removes the "send feedback" etc.
BTW: My laptop with w7 boots faster than my desktop with e8400 and 4gb ram Vista 64..
Its even a cheap laptop.
W7, gg
I would say windows XP, that way, (if you want to that is) when you are out somewhere you can make and edit videos ( thats why you switched from vista to XP right) right after you said you were going back to XP, I tried for the last time installing my Eyetoy drivers (I use one for a webcam) and when if didn't work, I said hell with it and went back to XP, ironically for one of the same reasons you did..
Also I am thinking of doing some videos soon, but I want to get my new monitor first, so I can film games in HD
What is the specs on your desktop and laptop may I ask Logan?
oh... right... specs:
it's a
17"
2.2GHZ AMD dual core
3GB ram
250GB hard drive
DVD-RW
ATI Radeon HD 2400 512MB
I will be using this for video editing on the road, photo editing, and blogging... might also play a couple games if I can... but Linux is out unless it has a really good video editing program that can handle the Canon 5D mark ii 1080p video files.
AMD come on logan i thought you were a hardcore pc gamer. besides the amd cpu every thing else looks good. i would put windows xp is way faster than windows vista. i use windows xp and nero 7 with a dual core 2.66 on my laptop(intel).
i think you can use cuda on that laptop but im not sure if so you can encode video faster.
I'm not a fanboy of any company... ati/amd/intel/nvidia... who cares as long as it runs fast for the $$.. the laptop wasn't really for gaming... I might do XP... just need to make sure I can edit my 1080p videos on it... it looks like either XP or OSX at this point....
I don't think I can use cuda cause it has an ATI graphics card.
I would say Windows XP SP2 possibly shaven down with the help of a few tools or DIY editing if you would prefer, just long enough for Windows 7 to be fully operational and not as buggy, then go with W7 after.
Windows XP SP3.
Win 7
get vista in july than you'll get windows 7 for free although it might be like home premium or what ever they are calling it might want to research on that. Vista shouldn't slow down that comp. It should be fine. Don't get osx it's really annoying especially the amount of times you cant edit a file becuase it won't let you. beleive me I own an ibook g4 with 1.5 gb of ram, a 180gb hd, and lepord and it's really annoying. Speed wise its dencently fast but i just don't like it at all but what you get for free is good.
Just use XP 32
As long as you have SP2 + you will be fine.
Also, Justin, Kill yourself.
Also also, Make an arcade machine out of it.
