I built a PC on May 2016 as my first foray to PC gaming and I am fascinated by the many options of video games I have never been able to experienced before. Currently, I have hundreds of games altogether in my libraries of Steam, Humble Bundle, and GOG and can now play all the games I've missed out on. Before diving in to game, I thought about all of the games I have completed or invested significantly into playing in my childhood and conjure them into a list.
My completed game's list (written as of Sept 27th, 2016)
Images if link doesn't work anymore:
I have been playing games since I was 5/6 and now 20 years-old and I have beaten a total of...77 games which is pretty low to me. Things I can reflect on are:
I have beaten only five FPS'es and they were all on consoles. These were your linear modern military shooters in terms of single player. I did sink many hours into the mulitplayers of Black Ops, Killzone 2-3, and Battlefield 3. I've only touched other FPSes like Halo or some other COD game when I'm with friends. I'm interested to try out the fast-paced arena shooters and old-school FPSes that are available on PC.
I only like sports games if they are not grounded on realism. Games like NBA 2K, FIFA, or Madden do not appeal to me.
I've only completed 3 RPGs in my life. I've watched more Let's plays/walkthroughs of JRPGs than I have played and that is because: A) No money, B) Young dumbass me did not know emulators exist.
I haven't played some games that everyone and their grandmother has played like Half-Life 2, Ocarina of Time, Bioshock, Final Fantasy VII, Witcher, Deus Ex, TES: Skyrim, etc.
Genres I have never touched are strategy, pure adventure (save “To The Moon”), Western RPGs, and others I can't think of.
I've played many open world/sandbox games due to the hours of content they provide. $50/60 to get tens, if not, a hundred hours of content and replayability? You can have my money.
I curious to know what kinds of games everyone played in their lifetime (or childhood) and why. Did you played more or less games than me?
NOTE: You do not have to make a list if you cannot remember every game you completed like I have.
There is just too many games, I will list the ones I played that I liked:
- Super Mario 64 (beat it countless times, and I started playing when I was 4, and mods such as Star Road, SM74 and Kaizo Mario 64, I beat SM64 100% in under 3 hours once)
- Super Mario Sunshine (I played this one a lot, but only beaten it a few times, it took me just under 7 hours to beat it)
- Super Smash Bros 64
- Super Smash Bros Melee (I played this one for countless hours, I am god mode in this game)
- Super Smash Bros Brawl
- Super Smash Bros Wii U (Haven't played this one much though)
- Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2
- Mario Party 1-7 (Played 8 and 9, but I disliked those two, the series was getting stale after 7 too btw, but I loved all of the older ones, especially the first 3)
- Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (& Master Quest)
- Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
- Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
- Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (I am hyped for Breath of The Wild too btw)
- Donkey Kong 64
- Banjo-Kazooie
- Banjo-Tooie (Tedious Game, like, very, but it was fun)
- Sonic 3 & Knuckles
- Sonic Adventure (DX & 2 Battle)
- Half-Life (haven't got to Half-Life 2)
- Team Fortress 2 (My favorite FPS game so far)
- Rocket League
- Overcooked (recently played it)
- The Witcher 3 (Need to play more)
- Grand Theft Auto IV and V
- Batman Arkham Asylum, Arkham City and Arkham Origins (going to do Arkham Knight someday now that I got it dirt cheap)
- Injustice: Gods Among Us (not really hyped for part 2)
- Dragon Ball Xenoverse (again, not hyped for part 2, but still enjoyable)
- Paper Mario Thousand Year Door
- Mario Kart 7 & 8 (They are the same almost)
Funny thing is that, I haven't beaten all of these games yet. And this is probably barely more than half of the games I ever played within my life span since I was 4.

Tried everything but horror.
Stuck with management games, such as SimCity, Roller Coaster Tycoon, Banished, etc, strategy games, like Caesar 3, Disciples 2, Heroes 3, etc, RPGs like Diablo 2, Skyrim, Dark Souls...
Dislike shooters, no matter I played HL1 multiplayer a lot back in the day, no matter I love Serious Sam, but I dislike shooters in general. Also dislike racing games. Euro Truck Simulator 2 is a management simulation game, not racing. Dislike procedurally generated stuff, no matter Hand Of Fate is one of the best games in the last 5 years.
Basically I don't really care what your game is, as long as it have solid gameplay and is somehow different from the majority.
Nothing like Downwell on the market. Nothing like Hand Of Fate. Nothing like Patapon. Nothing like Okami. Nothing like Dark Souls 1. This is why I love those games. I played a lot of stuff. Got easily bored of 90% of them.
PS: I heavily dislike all kinds of puzzle games. F@#% portal and limbo and what not...

The reward for getting 120 Shine Sprites isn't that great compare to what you get in SM64
Out of all the Smash Bros games, I've played Brawl the least (l could count the amount of hours I played that game with both my hands) but that is mainly due to not owning a Wii as a kid. Hell, I do not even own a Wii U and I've played SSB4 more than Brawl. Just like you, I did played a shit ton of Melee and it is crazy to realize how much depth the game actually has when you get older.
You played many of the 3D Zelda games save for Twilight Princess. What about the 2D ones like Link to the Past or the Oracle of Seasons/Ages games?
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle is definitely one of my favorite games ever even though it hasn't aged well. That being said, I'd touched the first one and my god it aged like milk.
Wow, I thought I was the only one who played the tom and jerry fighting game. I do not even remember how I got it. One day, it was in my room and I just played it. I loved the old Tom & Jerry cartoons and it was fun as a kid.
I ought to get into the 2D Zelda games, I have played Twilight Princess, it's good and stuff, but I couldn't get interested for some reason.

Well bummer but I want to try the 2D zeldas as well. I believe they have different designs in terms of gameplay and dungeon design compared to their 3D counterparts.
I quit playing videogames cause they make me feel lonely, and I feel like they don't do much to progress you in life.
insert video of "Head Games" here
Well I am sorry to hear that, mate.

not much does. like reading a book or most other pass-times. some don't have pass times. some do. depends what kind of person you are really. sometimes i get in a funk where i can't play games because i feel im not quite where i am in my personal goals but when i'm feelin good i buy a cheap game on g2a and binge the fucking shit out of it for like 10 12 hours and beat it then never play it again
I played the type that wastes your time... in retrospect I haven't changed one bit lol

Well that is a new word I can add to my vocabulary. I'm sorry to hear you are inflicted with this.
If I was playing nothing but video games, then yeah, even I would find that a waste of time however for me, if live gets me down in some way, video games can help rejuvenate my creativity and passion for other things.
