What is Your Dream Supergroup Lineup?

We recently discussed our favorite metal vocalists in the thread below:
https://forum.teksyndicate.com/t/who-is-your-favorite-metal-vocalist/83203

In a companion discussion, who (dead or alive) would make up your dream music supergroup? Make sure to list the following:
1. Music genre/genres the supergroup would fall under
2. Lineup (list names and what band(s) the individuals are currently associated with)

Also feel free to list why you picked the members of the lineup.

This is open to all music genres

This is my current insanely technical, versatile supergroup:

Genre: prog rock/jazz fusion/instrumental

Lineup:
Virgil Donati (Planet X) [drums]
- Virgil is probably the most technically skilled rock drummer around
Joe Satriani [lead/rhythm guitar]
- Satirani would provide his iconic ability to create mood and atmosphere as well as bluesier tone that would work well with Shawn's sound
Shawn Lane [lead/rhythm guitar]
- Shawn Lane (RIP) was possibly the most talented electric guitarist ever, as well as being a classically trained pianist, making him hugely versatile
Tony MacAlpine (Planet X) [keyboards]
- Tony is a classically trained pianist, but is most known for his impressive viruoso guitar career, so he would be another super versatile addition
Billy Sheehan [bass]
- Billy is one of the few insane rock bassists that would be more than capable of going toe-to-toe with the likes of Shawn and Joe

Totally Reminds me of this Reddit Post where in July 2005, the British radio station Planet Rock invited their listeners to select a singer, guitarist, bassist and drummer to create the "ideal supergroup". The members of Led Zeppelin won in each category.

Pretty much sums up my supergroup as well :)

Yeah that's not surprising when polling on a radio station. Don't get my wrong, I like me some Zeppelin, but polling on a radio station would be targeting the more "top-40" inclined crowd. Plus, if I had to choose a classic rock supergroup that already existed, it would obviously be Rush :D

Since this thread is open to any musical genre, I'm hoping for some interesting lineups. I'm working on finalizing my metal supergroup at the moment. These are important decisions to be made!

You are right with Rush: it doesn't need more than 3 good musicians.
So I choose

Jack De Johnette on Drums
Marcus Miller - Bass / bass clarinet
John Scofield - guitar

Oh wait number 4 could be Chick Corea.
Yes, it doesn't get much better.

Ooh nice Scofield and Corea. So I'm assuming this would be some sort of jazzy fusiony psychadelic supergroup then?

Well you asked for the best :)

Here's my current attempt at my tech/speed/thrash metal supergroup:
- Tony Benjamins (Forced Entry) [vocals/bass]
- Lee Altus (Heathen) [guitar]
- Thomas Vetterli (Coroner) [guitar]
- David Lozano (Devastation) [drums]

Hmmm... a Thrash Metal Supergroup?
Don't get me wrong but I think there is no need for this. First: because it isn't so much to it, so any real/learned musician can do it with practice (now I get hurt), second: there already are TESTAMENT and Slayer.
What more of a Super Group do I need in ths sector? :)

In the thrash case, it was more of (1) who would I like to see play together and (2) who would make for interesting combinations. A "supergroup" doesnt need to be a group of virtuosos. I listen to a lot of thrash, so I have developed lists of folks that I like and dont like based on various nuances. There's actually quite a lot of range within the thrash sub genre, so there's plenty of interesting combinations to be made. Case in point - Slayer and Testament. These bands have very different sounds. If you threw Kerry King into Testament, it would be a disaster.

Sorry, my post was mean. Sure there are a lot of different styles in thrash too, listened to this kind of music long enough and still enjoy it from time to time. But I don't think that Kerry King with Testament would be a desaster. He even did well with the Beasty Boys. :)
But most of Thrash wasn't for me a thing of Individuals easy to seperate like in jazz, more the feeling and sound a whole band generated.
So I like - for example - Coroner. I wouldn't know who could play with them without making it a nightmare for me. :)
Cheers!

Yeah bands like Coroner are interesting. I combined Lee Altus from Heathen with Thomas Vetterli as I thought that his more technical work would mesh well with Vetterli's vibe. I was also thinking about Jeff Waters (Annihilator), Josh Christian (Toxik), and Charly Steinhauer/Markus Spyth (Paradox).

I don't know if an other guitar would do Coroner any good. It is a trio and Ron "Royce" Roders vocals are mixed quiet fragile into the sound. More guitar would probably kill him and I don't want him louder. I like their sound as it is - different than the mass of unisonous metal today. But your sugestions could be quiet intersting too. I'd love to hear them try. :)
