What is the max temp a FX-9370 get to before i should worry?

I have a FX-9370 on a closed loop water cooler and when i idle it  it cool but when i play Titanfall for example  the highest its gone is 83c is it safe there or should i worry?

First off: HOLY SHIT THAT IS 22 C OVER THE MAX TEMPERATURE.

Second off: you are going to need a bigger cooler than just that 120mm rad, The maximum temperature on the FX series of chips from amd is always 61C or below, if you keep running your chip like that you will kill it in a hurry, to get those core temperatures down to a managable temperature you will have to go into the bios and down clock your cpu so that it doesnt cook itself, also if you are reading the temperatures from the asus AI suite, that is the socket temperature, that wil always be 10-20 degrees hotter than the actual core temp(which might explain why your thermal limit isnt being hit and your system shuts down) Get a program called Core Temp, and then post your new readings whilst under a gaming load or at idle.

finally: dont be worried at those temperatures for short ammounts of time, prolonged peroids of high heat will make your processor fall apart(litterally).

thats only when i play games when im at idle its around 8c to 20c usually and at games its around 60 -83c and i have cpuid hwmonitor and those are what im getting and my mother board is a 990FXA-UD3 rev.4 and it hasent shut down at all.

im also wondering if its just the cooler doesnt have enough surface area to cool with can that be a possibility?

It wont be as less as 8c.

It will be slightly warmer than your room temperature.

if you're not too worried about longevity it should be fine, the silicon will take up to 95-105 before it will shut off due to overheating

AMD has bad thermal sensors that are most innaccurate at low loads.

I'm running at 6c

another example of bad sensors

i am worried about it lol i just built the thing but im thinking the cooler isnt big enough

I have that same motherboard and an FX chip- (6350)

What cooler are you using?

those do look like really high temps for a water cooler though

Try resetting it and using the pea method it's possible you have a bad seal and it's not transferring heat efficiently.

cooler size is most likely NOT an issue. cooler are made to fit all parts amd and intel and the 9370 chip is no bigger than the other FX parts. not to mention that the actual die under the spreader is really small, so unless your cooler has a surface area of a dime. I doubt it

i have the asetek 510lc liquid cooler

I do know that.

and i downloaded that core temp  one as well it sits at 10c when idleing

I don't understand

AMDs idle temp is unreliable.

okay i downloaded the core temp one and it gives me a total different temp the max it hit while playing titanfall was 76c and the lowest is 10c

and i would post the pics but i dont know how to get them up on here

Try resetting it and using the pea for thetrmal paste method it's possible you have a bad seal and it's not transferring heat efficiently.

That's my theory- otherwise that FX is literally that hot

okay ill try that then . and do you recommend a certain kind cause i just use the stock thermal compund that was on it ? and is it even possible that it just that hot?

It's entirely possible it's that hot.

I've had really good luck with the tuniq TX-4 thermal paste.
