What is The Internet of Things?

simple, what is The Internet of Things?

Its where all of the electronics and devices you own that shouldn't be connected to the internet are connected to the internet.  Now people can remotely turn your heat up, shut off your fridge, unlock your doors, etc. all from the comfort of their home.

A theoretical concept in which everything has a unique identifier and can transfer data without the aid of humans.

Examples of the "things" in the internet of things are biomedical implants in humans, chip transponders in animals, sensors in computers and vehicles and controllers in household appliances. All these objects can be assigned a unique label and possess the ability to measure and transmit data to other machines without the aid of humans.

You paint a nice picture. However, it is not "theoretical" - IoT is not ubiquitous and everywhere yet, but it is definitely existent (regardless, you don't need everything to be connected). To achieve an internet of things, all that is needed is to have "things" connected to the internet, like you say. Therefore, it exists.

then after you google it, try to discuss something about it, maybe the pros and cons.... instead of just asking a question your are to lazy to look up yourself.

My understanding was that the internet of things and the internet are distinct ideas. The internet of things is a state where a device has a unique label and can transfer data without the aid of humans, and the internet is a global network of information. An object in the internet of things doesn't necessarily have to connect to the internet to qualify to be in the internet of things I thought.

It’s everywhere now, even your toaster is now on wifi!!!
