You guys reccomend the A-DATA SX900, the Kingston Hyper4k, but what SSD do you personally think is THE best?
I am looking for an SSD with a capicty around 250GB.
I am currently considering the Samsung 840.

Samsung 840 Pro Series.
The Fusion IO Octal is the best, but...
The regular 840 is not a good option - Sandisk Ultra Plus is pretty much the same in every respect except it will last a lot longer.
-_-
What, can't spend 150k+ on an SSD? Peasant.
kind of fond of my sansdisk extreme 2
I have a Samsung 256GB and my roommate has an Adata 256GB. Both of them seem to be great and niether cost the and irreconsilable amount.
I use the Intel 520 Series 120GB & 240GB drives.
I downloaded the ssdtoolbox app from Intel and optimize the drives once a week. The firmware updates on a decent interval, and there are useful tools included as well.
I'm pleased with the drives.
Not your typical answer to this question, but I'm going to have to go with the OCZ Revodrive 3 x2 240GB.
Yep, that's an SSD.
It runs on PCIe 2.0 x4, which is (theoretically) almost 3 times faster than SATA III.
Also, notice that there are two Sandforce chips. This thing isn't 1 240GB SSD, but is rather 2 120GB SSDs in RAID 0 on one board.
So what does this do for speed?
Well, the advertised read speed is...
...brace yourself...
...1,500 MBps.
Read speed?
1,225 MBps.
Nuts.
Craziest thing is, you can pick a refurbished one up for $338.
The one downside is that it can only run Windows and is kind of a pain to set up as a boot drive.
Still, those speeds!
And not all motherboards will allow boot from PCI. I plan on picking one of those up this winter though.
True, sadly. Hopefully, OP has a motherboard that will let him/her take advantage of a drive like this.
Anyway, hopefully the prices stay low for you. The price on this thing fluctuates like crazy!
This is also for a hackintosh... so, it wouldn't play to well. :(
Samsung 840 pro, Kingston Hyper3k and Adata sx900
NO specific SSD is THE BEST, but there are several good SSD's that are great at individual specific things. It doesn't really matter which of the SSD's you pick, they will be good no matter what if you moving from HHDs.
If you want something really fast you could also get two or more SSD's and a good raid controller.
between the top ones it is very hard to feel the differance
OCZ Vertex 2 EX
Kingston SSDNow V+ or HyperX
Corsair Neutron GTX or Force
SSD's connected to PCI will always be best choice if you're looking for serious speed.
None are because they will get trounced by the next SSD on the market for cheaper. The best ones are the ones you wait out for the technology to advance for purchase.
