What is the best overall antivirus?

I had no idea what to put this under, But what is the best overall antivirus? Also list the yearly price for it!

Once upon a time, I used to use Mcaffe (ugh, it's horrible, I don't even.. Never use it. Came free with the router)

I currently use Avast (the free one) and it hasn't faulted me yet! A lot of features even though it's free.

My brother got the full version and he's really happy with it so far.

Remember, if you're really tight about security, use malwarebytes in conjunction with the antivirus to act as a buffer when bad things happen, or to detect things that the main one hasn't.

And of course, don't do stupid things on the internet and you won't get a virus in the first place.

A lot of people will scoff at this but I use Norton Internet Security 2012.  Norton products used to be really bad back in the day but ever since their 2007 suite they've realy cleaned up their act.  Haven't had an issue. ESET NOD 32 is also very good,

Microsoft Securit Essentials! Never had a problem, and it's totally free!

I have to agree with you. I have been using Norton 360/Internet security for the last five years, and I have seen them improving immensely - especially after v6.

Don't use MSE.  It is beyond bad.  It's horrible.  I used to use it, but I kept noticing that viruses would still squirm their way past MSE security.

I recently switched over to Avast, and it's working great so far.  I'm using it in conjunction with Malwarebytes, CCleaner, and Defraggler.  It keeps everything running nice and smooth.

There is no really good antivirus program that runs in Windows. The only good way to really scan for Windows viruses is to run a live GNU/Linux distro on your system with clamav, with heuristics on and the Google virus database on. Antivirus programs in Windows are at most a temporary measure, and you always need to use several of them. Just never pay for antivirus programs, you don't know what they do, you can't actually check the source code. With clamav, the source code is open, you know what it does, and it's the fastest and most thorough antivirus scan. It obviously is not made for scanning for viruses in Linux, it's a linux programs specifically made to eliminate Windows and Mac viruses from the safety of a linux distro, so while eliminating the possibility that the antivirus might be affected by the virus itself or might be malware itself, and while making the antivirus scan much less painful because of the much greater speed than any antivirus program running in Windows. Oh, and did I mention it's free?

A lot of good ideas including the one above but that sounds a little overkill in most cases imo. One thing I always recommend to people is that they install a well known Anti virus such as Avast as well as scanning with MalwareBytes to double check.

AVG is Good..!

comodo and avast free

From recent reviews, Norton 360 is getting beyond stellar reviews. AVG or Avast free are both very good. I use Avast paid, and have no complaints

i use Avira Antivir.

most important of all DON"T MIX ANY OF THEM WITH REAL TIME SCANNERS.example;avast and malwarebytes work very well together. Avast and norten big problems.
