What is the Best gaming setup with a $2000 limit

i have all the guts of my old pc,

1155 mobo and a 2500k cpu
32gb 1866ram 4x8gb
samsung 840 evo 256gb
intel 540 240gb
and a gtx 970
with a raidmax rx-850ae psu
and a corsair 600t white.
with triple 120mmx3 radiators

the screen will be my current 1080p 60hz 50' tv
was thinking maybe upgrade my rig

if so what would you guys suggest?

Shit man, I wouldn't even upgrade :P Maybe grab a 4790k and a Z97 WS motherboard. Use the ram, ssds, video card, maybe change out the case and grab a new monitor?

I would suggest:

  • Get a bigger case that actually fit the radiators inside.
  • Better brand PSU

If you want to keep playing at 1080p I suggest you keep the rest as is. If you plan on getting a higher resolution monitor, you could consider an upgrade of the rest.

well i wanted a better cpu,
but to do that id need a new mobo
and if i have to get a new mobo, i might as well get something nice
but if i get a nice cpu and mobo then ill need new ddr4 ram to match ...
see my conundrum here?
that sandybridge 2500k is a few generations old now..,...,.,..
some games 99% out my cpu even clocked at 4.4ghz

4790K is the best cpu for gaming atm.
You can pair it with a nice Z97 board like Asus Maximus 7 Hero, or Msi Gaming 7.
Sell your GTX970, and buy a 980Ti.

If you do more then just gaming, like productivity stuff, then i would recommend X99.
But for pure gaming, X99 doesnt realy make much sense for that.

lets see the 4 generation old
Intel Core i5-2500K @ 3.30GHz
scores 6,470 over at cpubenchmark

the Intel Core i7-4790K @ 4.00GHz
scores 11,240

what is the general highest clock speed you can safely push a 4790k?
ive got my 2500k to 4.7

i was thinking setting my C: as one of those 400gb intel 750's or booting off of a sm951 (unless anyone knows a better drive at the moment)

I would say to look into getting a 4k monitor (like the one that was reviewed here recently), and a better gpu. 4k is the next standard resolution, and that seems to be the best way to upgrade your rig, as everything else is currently solid. For 4k gaming, a 2500k should be fine, as it will be entirely gpu bound in-game. That is definitely the direction that I would go. Likely 2 Fury X and a 4k monitor. Or 1 Fury X, a 4k monitor, a better case, and a better psu, or something like that. For gaming, I think that this path makes the most sense.

The gains in daily life from using something like the 740 or the sm951 likely wouldn't justify the cost. Unless you are doing some storage critical stuff regularly, all it would do is decrease load times. Given that you already have a decent ssd, I don't see that being too much of an upgrade. Seems like a waste of money to me.

EDIT: As far as a case goes, in order to get those three 360mm rads in a non-ghetto config, you would need to look at something like the stacker series or some large, water cooling friendly case. That would be a pretty big priority for me, personally, as with all of that nice cooling, having it bolted on like that looks pretty bad. The potential for a really sick build it there, it just needs a nice case. On top of that, if you get it all situated, then you should be able to easily swap out all of the components in there and keep that sick ass water cooled build for many years to come. That said though, not having the gpus in the loop would be a shame, so I think you should definitely consider that when considering other gpus (which of course you would anyway, but whatever). I haven't looked into it, but there might be a 980ti which comes with a water block or something for custom loop compatibility.

its not ghetto its ...CUSTOM....
who the hell else has externally mounted folding back fin rads.......
ima .. go. over here.. in this corner now..

GPU, PSU and Monitor for now only.

Are those blue motherboard heatsinks hot? All that water seems to be a waste of time for 4.7 and a GTX970. Fair enough if you had it already..

Look at my desktop specs on my profile its under your budget and I have not found a game I can't run on max settings. I'm sure you can get better stuff but I love mine and I spent like $1500 2 years ago so I'm syre prices have gone down since then.

I am all for custom, but if you have a multi-thousand dollar computer, maybe it should look like it. Perhaps a 900D?

Can you run Crysis? xD

Definitely I can, I beat Crysis in like 2 days Bioshock infinite, Arma 2, Arma 3, like I said everything I throw at it it handles with no problem, no over heating at all Ive ran stress tests and haven't come close to overheating.

Whats 900D?

no it should look like an old atari,
so no one would even think about stealing it.
and ill set it next to the ps4, so they take that instead

i think it runs crysis one at a few thousand fps un locked

corsair obsidian 900D

I agree with @1920_1080p_1280_720p... I think you should get a Corsair 900D because your setup looks very ghetto, also an i7 4790k + mobo or 5820k + mobo + ram (depends on how much power you need/how much you can spend)

I Prefer my current computers aesthetics.
thank you guys.
id rather have something that i helped customize with my own 2 hands
buying parts and running tubes is all well and good.
but i made those brackets by hand
i cut the metal with tinsnips
i modified the hinges that they rest on
i melted the rubber that seals and vibration dampens the radiators
my blood went into that computer and i like what it represents to me

id rather have that, than some massive case that has perfect hardline tubing and hidden wires that it looks like i have a large empty box

You should really get a nice IPS/PLS 4k display over that TV for starters, that'll run you about 700 I believe.
