What is THE best browser, and why?

I'm experimenting with different internet browsers, and I'm posting this through Opera, which I seem to like so far.

Now here's my question. What is THE best internet browser, and why is it the best?

I am currently alternating between firefox and chrome. I use them because they stay up to date alot faster, and I know how to tweak the settings. Chrome is really nice because it manages every additional tab in a new process and does not stall. I really like chrome for this reason, but the only reason I use firefox is for a portable version. Chrome has the inability to be easily ported to become portable.

I used to like Opera a lot, but I've tended to resort to Firefox so that I don't have to re-install flash for Opera on Linux... In general, there is more native support for Firefox and more community support (plugins, themes, etc.). I refuse to use Chrome no matter how much I like Google for their other projects.

I like chrome. But I use firefox as well. I like chromes speed and just clean look I guess. But firefox has better plugins. Just depends on what I am in need of.

I use chrome because of the superior syncing support. If I have to scrap my OS, All I have to do is log back in and everything is there. same for multiple PCs.

If Firefox had better Sync support, I would probably use it, though.

I agree, I tried to swap over to Firefox (via Waterfox) because I wanted to see if using a browser built for x64 would make a difference, and when I tried to set up the sync system I felt like it was way too much of a fuss to get my browser to sync from PC to PC. I got it working, but it just wasn't very seamless and the sync was slow and clunky.

I use Comodo Dragon witch is a chome based build with added privacy and securitysyncing and almost the same speed as stock chrome.

Or if you  like firefox more there is a firefox build(Ice dragon) with the added privacy and securitybut in firefox.

Can no longer use firefox.

Safari. It is the fastest and the shittiest browser of all time.

Tend to use firefox most but for no particular reason, my ex who's a web developer said its render engine is better and pointed at rounded edges on boxes.... erm.. lol.

Im sure someone can give you a more technical opinion.

'We don't like one Mozilla executive's political beliefs, so we would like you to use spyware.'

What a bunch of cretins...

Whatever suits my needs. Usually firefox because I don't want google to have ALL my data and websites. For some applications, chrome is just superior. Chrome remote desktop works really well and is way superior than the windows remote desktop.

What chrome really needs is an adblock that really blocks all ads, like adblock edge. adblock plus has been bought and now they let google do their advertising.

Certainly depends on your usages.

For the general user, they might enjoy chrome because of its simplicity, where other might enjoy firefox for it's customizable features, meanwhile other enjoy sapphire for its security.

Some might be dumpfooled and still use internet explorer because of their missing knowledge of other browsers.

I find this kinda outrageous and unacceptable because internet protocols and browsers are just tools, they should not be affected by such social bias and pressure.

I use chrome but I am on the edge of switching as chrome is starting to annoy me. The thing that annoys me the most is on my taskbar I get a little google alerts notification that I cant turn off that and I feel like i am being monitored.

I find WebKit has some really weird behaviour sometimes, but besides that I don't really like the fact that Chrome is made by Google. Chromium is of course the FOSS thing it is based off, but it still has this Googly-flavour to it that just doesn't go well with me. It is really fast though, gotta give them that. Personally, I exclusively use Firefox.

Firefox is currently not multiprocessor friendly so there is only webkit (Opera has switched to webkit also). Chrome

Currently using Waterfox, a Firefox variant built to be 64bit and retain most of its extension capabilities and securities (pipeling on by default to boot.) I'm loving it, performance is outstanding, and after installing my favorite extensions I'm have yet to see any slow down.

http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/google_chrome_portable but it is portable... I use it all the time. It saves my bookmarks on a USB drive in one folder it works great.

I use Google Chrome all dem apps and its fast. I like the tabs on chrome and the GUI layout and style. I have usually more than 30 tabs open all the time so I wish it wouldn't take up so much ram >.<.

I'm going to try this out, it looks really nice
