So I was reading the release notes for openZFS 2.2 and saw that Linux container support was added. These changes seem very relevant for me as I run ZFS as my base storage and the applications most dependent on storage performance are in LXC:s.
But I’m not really understanding what has been added and how I can use it. There’s some commits about fusefs which I’m unfamiliar with and some about idmapping/namespaces. The latter changes seem very relevant as I currently map a container user to a host user in order to be able to add separate ZFS datasets to a unprivileged container. Do these changes improve this process or make it easier somehow? How do I use it? Benefits?
In my specific case I’m using proxmox to manage my containers and VMs but I’d hope this thread could become more general for people like me who have not understood the changes.
Thank you for your help!
