What is needed to test boot a motherboard?

When I get my new motherboard, CPU and RAM what all needs to be put together to do a test boot to get into the bios?

You'll need a PSU and if your motherboard doesn't have a start button, get a screwdriver to connect the two connectors that would go to the case power button.

Does a CPU or RAM need to be installed for just getting into the BIOS?

Yes, both have to be installed.

Ok, thanks for the help :)

Also a keyboard

Hello ZombieKohhi,

Keep in mind there are two different aspects to turning on a system.

Post - which is the most basic intial turning on of the board and its components. This would be your PSU ( some form of graphics which could be inside your CPU and if you motherboard has integrated display outputs ike HDMI ) as well as memory.

So to recap

Motherboard ( with display output )

PSU

CPU with CPU Cooler ( cpu should have integrated graphics )

Memory ( at least 1 DIMM )

* if you CPU does not have integrated graphics then you would need a graphics / video card.

Keyboard and Mouse

Monitor

If you want to go to the next step the booting is dependent on actually booting into an OS or application

Examples are Windows, Linux, Utility discs ( like Memtest or Parted Magic etc )

Hope this helps. Please enjoy the rest of your day!
