What is causing all my games to run slow?

Chrome with like 20+ tabs haha.

The temps are worrying though, even if this cooler is an aftermarket stock alike cooler, it should be still doing under 85c

And with Vsync on i should be never dropping bellow 60fps right? Considering that I get about 120-15-fps average with it off?

I got 792.

with vsync on it should stay arround 60fps, indeed if your monitor is 60Hz offcourse.

But still. temps are indeed realy high. i think that haswell throttle temp is arround 90C? or something.

seems like a bad chip.

Atleast its for sure its not the gpu nor drivers. because you got 98% ussage and 125fps. somethimes so thats good. It definitely looks like a cpu problem.

Can you do a Cinebench R15 CPU render test? i wanne know what it scores. just cpu score multithreaded. to see if the cpu throttlels.

Yeah I think i will do that, I do have another motherboard now, so i'll try some things tomorrow.

It says 792cp for the CPU test.

Thats kinda low aswell.

Your cpu is the problem definitely

I'll just restart my PC and do it again and make sure.

I got 829 this time and my temps were at 80c.

I did another one and got 682 and my temps were 85c.

scores should be arround the 880 / 900 mark.

So 829 was not a bad number, But stil a bit on the low side. your cpu is thermal throttleling i cannot think of something else realy.

Hmm that's not good then, it's like it's Tjunction has been set to 80c or something, even though it can't do that... Is there any other kinds of benchmarks that I can do before trying to RMA it?

cpu passmark. Performance Test 8.0

But yeah 682cb on 85C tells the whole story

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i7-4790K+%40+4.00GHz&...

http://www.passmark.com/products/index.htm

I'll do it now.

i have this cooler btw

http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/2740/silverstone_nitrogon_nt07_775_low_profile_cpu_cooler/index4.html

and it has no OC and XMP turned off.

its an old socket 775 cooler. how did you mount it? Because 775 coolers dont fit one on one on socket 1150 normaly.

Dont you have the stock intel one?

You should definitely concider a new cooler.

I got 5571.7 with all tests executed.

i think they must've remade it to work with 1150 coz it mounted no problem, and the only reason I use it is because it's quieter and better than the stock heatsink (which i still have) and it was from my old ITX build that I don't have anymore.

anyway, your passmark score should be in the 7000 mark somewhere. so your low again.

Weird, my CPU didn't even reach 85c either, i'll try turn all my fans on high and see what happens.

Would I be able to get 7000+ with a stock cooler with no overclocks? Or are the stock coolers not good enough for that?

well the cpu is stock clocked at 4.0 ghz with turbo upto 4.4GHz.

So you can basicly say, that the stock intel cooler should be capable of running the the cpu on stock speeds. without issues. Because simply not everyone on the planet earth will buy an aftermarket cooler. so basicly the cooler must be capable of doing this.

7000+ mark is on stock speeds. total score of all the full passmark test.

You definitely should buy an aftermarket cooler in my opinnion something like a coolermaster hyper 212 evo for arround $28,- will help allot.

But still i dont think its normal that the cpu´s throttles that badly.

cpu mark for reference

i took this system as baseline:

Your Cpu is just thermal throtteling.
