What is bit coin? what is teh advantage? and how do i get started?

do i need a beefy computer to...i don't even know what a bit coin is, I've just heard of them

any replies are appreciated (anything to make me less n00b haha)

Explains a lot & yes you will need good hardware or a lot of mid-range hardware to mine. Nothing to stop you from investing in it though.

If you get your electricity for free than mining can be worth your time and $$$ otherwise unless the $/kwhr is super cheap it'll take a long time even to break even.
