What is better for gaming?

Don't know what to go with I only want to spend 100 or less on cpu what do you guys is the best cpu for 100 or lees? I was looking at the

AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition (want to add that if I get will oc to 4.0)

or

intel g860 

if get one of these two cpu will it be a upgrade ?

as of right now I have A10 5800k

Also have a 7870 XT card

you would need to switch motherboards for either of those, and at that point it depends on what is more important to you. Is single core performance more important than having several threads handled by discrete cores? If so then the Intel chip is better, but not by an absolutely massive margin. If you do need lots of discrete cores, then the Phenom II X4 is a good choice because it performs well and overclocks easily if your board has the VRMs to power it with. Both setups will cost you about the same though because you will want to get a better motherboard to accomodate the overclocking potential for the Phenom II as opposed to the Intel Pentium chip, which isn't aimed at overclocking and has a locked multiplier.

I love me some AMD but from what I've seen in the benchmarks the i3's really are good bang for the buck... I think it would be worth it to wait a little bit and save an extra $30 up for it.

If you don't want to do that then the AMD Phenom II is a good deal (plus you can get some great IC's on it).  But if you're going to buy a new mobo anyways... why not?

EDIT: I know this doesn't really answer your question... but I think it deserves some thought...

I think the apu you have will be similar to those options. Your not going to gain a lot at that price point imo. If you can stretch it I'd go for an fx 6 or 8 core cpu.

yea graemeakerby I was looking at some benchmarks of the cpu's I was looking at and was just like going to get a 2'ed job and get i5. But thk guys for the help
