And the BFG GeForce GTX 285 OCFU 1024MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Costs :£271.99 inc VAT

(it would be unfair using gtx 295 :)

Both cards benchmarks are reasonably close but which is better? Which OC better?

Please state your comment bellow saying which card and why !

Good To See What You Guys Come Up With :D

my opinion is that nvidia are a lot expensive simply becoz of the label but they also have a lot of support and can run some games smoother even tho that ati has up ther standerds ALORRRT im really sure what i would go for

The GTX285 is not even in the same class as the 4980..

Here go classes;
4850 = 9800gtx, 9800gtx+, GTS250
4870 = GTX260
4890 = GTX260 c216 & GTX275
GTX285 = no really ati competitor here.
GTX295 = Well.. The 4870x2 is SUPPOSED to be a competition... but not even close.

Well anyways, the GTX285 is best out of those two.

Where does the GTX280 fit?

For me personally I choose Nvidia after years of buying ati cards, for better support in certain games.

nividia supports there older stuff so it might last you longer (good first post welcome)

what green said. :)

(GTX260 core competes with the HD4870 1gb)
(GTX285 competes with the HD 4850x2)

EVGA

Basically, what Green said. ATi's drivers suck, the cards may look good on paper but the fact is they aren't, maybe if the drivers worked Nvidia would have some competition, hell I would get an 8800GT over a 4870 any day...

Personally i perfer the ATI cards because nvidia is more expensive and the ATI cards are faster.

i would say most of the time nvidia is better.. sometimes not though.

nvidia is better because they have more stable drivers and have better support for games. also because nvidia has EVGA.

You can OC the 4890 so that it will be faster than the 285.

I normally go with ATI as it's usually better value for money.

Agreed best signal GPU is GTX 285 and NVIDIA has better drivers and better game support to.

nvidia for evga, for 3d vision,for better drivers, for cuda, and for physx.

I prefer NVIDIA for the games that are optimized for it and the driver support.

Nvidia for better folding@home performance.

i think you cant compare the gtx 285 to the 4890 like green said and yes nvidia has better drivers but expensive as hell cards and power consuming ones. this thread may become a fanboy fight

ATI's cards consume more power. a lot more

This chart should help u out
