What is a good way to convince a stubborn user that they need to backup their data? [Plus a story/rant]

Agreed. :+1:

Question for OP,

Do they even have data that is worth backing up?

My dad doesn't back up anything, because he doesn't really save anything. The only thing he remotely saves is pictures which are all uploaded to facebook anyway.

I'm not a fan of wasting time on things I don't need/want to.

Sometimes people need to learn stuff the hard way.

Sorry for not replying, I hadn't been on here for a little while.

Yeah it certainly does have things he'd probably like to keep, he uses an odd email client called Juno and he seems to get his mail over POP3, so if anything happens to his PC then all those saved emails are gone and I know among other things he has quite a few pictures especially hard to find things such as old buildings as well as family tree maker, which is partially on facebook/online too but I doubt all of it is.

I did however sneak veeam onto his PC, it was pretty easy, so if anything does happen, I'll just tell him "I dunno, but I'll see what I can do" then let him suffer for at least a day while I pretend I'm working on it, that should hopefully drive the point home.
