Ok, I turned my laptop on today and the SD reader starts smoking, how do I fix this and what the hell caused it in the first place?! THanks for any help laptop is Gateway nv57h94u
How to Fix:
1. Get a tear down guide for your laptop.
2. Remove SD card reader.
3. Put laptop back together. You don't need that crap. :P
if it smoked it's probably unsalvageable
what caused it? perhaps your motherboard is freaking out sending too much power to random componants killing them off one at a time until it catches on fire in your lap, or it had shotty quality and was just waiting to die, probably the first one though
Opened it up and there was exposed wire touching the motherboard, so i put electric tape over it and it stopped smoking, hopefully nothing broke :p
