What Has Happened To The Master Race?

the other day was like any other day on the internet were you tube comments by the PC community were witty and smart but with the announcement of games MOSTLY Dayz coming to consoles we have turned into a bunch of mindless potato peasants yelling and swearing and complaining that "OUR games are coming to console" when in reality games are games their should be no exclusives as if people on Xbox for instance enjoy a game they will get a PC to play it in better quality on. now i know you guys are better than the average PC gamer or general PC user so thats pretty damn smart so please please explain to me why this is happening and help me on Reddit YouTube and every other site with down voting and explaining why this is a good thing, or at least why they  shouldent be worried

THANKS

oh and on a second note i understand why people are pissed of with DayZ being ported as it is a game that has been in development for years and is still not hardly remotely playable and them using more resources and supply's to port it over is just simply put. bad management  and can someone please reassure me that dayz wont be bottle necked by console shitty hard wear  nor will the dev team give up on pc and just do console

rant over

Firstly, punctuation would be nice. (But it is a rant I suppose)

I do not know why people get all up in arms about games moving from platform to platform. I agree that it could harm the development, but also in many ways it will aid it. Firstly if you can reach more potential customers, that is more potential money they could make to aid further development of said game; Whether this be hiring additional people or getting newer equipment, it will help.

I also do see that it could harm the development of a platform over the other's. As we all know among the "Glorious PC Master Race" consoles are inferior in every way. This could harm the graphical fidelity of the more powerful system if the developer focuses too much on the other platforms. (Although I would worry when a really under powered console is in the dev circle *cough* xbone *cough*)

To be honest, people shouldn't get up in arms about cross platform games. What they should get worried about is exclusive titles. For example the new Tomb Raider Xbone exclusive. If it doesn't sell well, it is unlikely we shall see a port at a later date or worse, further development of the franchise.

Having 400 hours logged in Dayz, I think I can say with some authority, fuck Dean “Rocket” Hall!

I can see the problem here....you were reading those youtube comments....don't do that. Don't ever take a youtube comment seriously. Youtube's comments section is garbage. There are only a couple channels I know of that have an amazing community that actually uses reasoning when commenting on videos, and neither of them are tech channels.

social media is tribal. the whole concept of a "PC master race" is tribal. it gets people focused on cheering for their tribe no matter what and refusing any kind of reasoning, logic or even emotion that clashes with this view.

so when tribe members see something like one of their exclusive games being ported to another, it is not just a matter of them not feeling special anymore, but rather a full blown identity crisis as the exclusives are one of the defining factors that separate the PC tribe from the console tribe. that is what you are seeing on social media comments. that is why it is so painful for the fanatical.

It is not just their world view that is being challenged, but how they view and define themselves.

MOstly because people are mad that the game isn't even done and they are already porting it. Are they gonna abandon it on pc? Are they gonna pull an ubisoft? Remember watchd_dogs started life as a pc for the main platform title just like dayz, but look what happened once the consoles got a hold of it.  Yeah the youtube reaction is over the top, but eh youtube is the worst place for comments. Although what made them mad in the first place is more than understandable.

Vocal idiotic minority as always. Not worth a discussion to be honest.

thank you sooo much for some good advice on this and a valid view point as well and about the punctuation im dyslexic so im surprised you were only bothered about the punctuation as normally its mostly misspelled as well  XD although i am still worried about consul bottle necking the game but i also worry that they will do what teraria did and eventually give up on pc.

yea but it wasn't just that it was reddit as well and most other sites it really worries me that we could be turning into... THEM

this makes me a bit happier

true words... true words

personally i wish we could think above that i wish that we could argue about that really matter the actual platform not the games it has

There never was a Master race, and there never will be.

cool story bro

It's quite easy: Reality is no TF2. You don't have blue console guys and red PC guys. There are douchebags and smart witty people on both sides. Your person is not defined by what you play or where you play it.

Some people prefer consoles, some PCs. With this (botched) incoming NextGen more people are realising that Consoles are just PCs with different OS and locked specs and are making the switch. If PC gets to the point it's really easy for everybody, I wouldn't doubt consoles would stop existing as we know it.

BTW: PC Master Race was coined by Yahtzee Croshaw as a kind of insult and bit him in the ass when he stopped focusing only on consoles.

EDIT: Save yourself some headaches

Best advice I can give you is not to care what others say. There as been a so called war on one thing or another forever. Sega vs Nintendo, Sony vs Microsoft. And I find it funny that the PC Master Race has room to talk. PC gamers have to deal with this not only from console gamers but ourselves. Intel vs AMD, Geforce vs Radeon. Other little wars like Keyboard, Mice, Headsets, Headphones, you name it.

At the end of the day its not even worth paying attention too.

As for consoles exclusives it sucks. But from my point of view there is plenty of other things to play. And there not supporting my platform of choice means they don't get my money.

Earlier this day you stated something else xD

I really don't know what the whole point is on ripping on consoles.  There is nothing wrong with them, now we do spend a shit ton of money on our PC's which gives us some sort of justification on ripping consoles, but yet, not everyone wants to sit in front of a PC and play games that way.

Now i know HTPC's are becoming big with the push of the steambox and now case makers are more catering towards it.  Though the community on console is a little different than PC.  Right now the PC community is getting really horrible because of the MOBA community.  Even worse than console players.  I know that you have more flexibility with PC, but some people just want a different experience than PC.

Console deliver a different experience in the sense of immersion with games, catered hardware so that games are optimized better.  Remember PC has to deal with a lot of stupid shit in the background, and unless we have a dedicated OS for gaming, the console will perform better for the hardware it has.  Consoles are still better for gaming in price to performance ratio, and that's just a fact.  Now maybe in another year, the PC will destroy in price to performance because of the die shrinks and performance leaps with mantle and dx12.  Then you never know, the consoles may adopt those API's with patches, it's all up in the air still.

Exclusives are another selling point, yes exclusive rights are stupid, but that's what makes consoles have an advantage in gaming.  I have consoles and i have a monster $2k PC, i love having both because i have my choice with games that i won't be able to play on PC.  Then again i can also develop games for consoles because i can test them.  Consoles are just more convenient in a household.  Not all of us are geniuses on PC where we can figure things out so quickly.  People are still dumbfounded by the sight of a PC and that can be very intimidating.  Then upgrading parts can be a pain and if you're inexperienced, you may even break parts and waste money.

There's a slew of things take can go back and forth on what is better, but at the end we're all gamers, and that's what we should focus.  I don't care if i'm playing console or PC, I'm playing games because i love games and there shouldn't be any discrimination.  Sometimes games work better in a console environment, and sometimes games work best on keyboard and mouse.  That's just how things roll.  Play a game based on what the experience will best suit it. Not because of a device.
