What Graphics Card should I get?

I have decided it's time to say good bye to my trusty old 280X as it's just not cutting it anymore for all games (especially modded Skyrim). At this point I'm just not sure what Graphics Card to get. I was originally planning on getting a Fury X or a GTX 980 Ti but those are a bit expensive. The next problem is that there seem to be some problems with the production of Fiji. So now I'm not sure whether I should save some more money and buy a FuryX (or a GTX 980 Ti) , or should I get a 390X (or a 980) right now

if all you are primarily doing is gaming, than you can do justice with a 390. (no need for the 390x) in gaming scenarios they perform almost indentically. if you are doing video editing or whatever the extra stream processors will be a bonus.

As for Fiji-based GPUs. there are rumors that state the shortage won't be fixed till early 2016. (which is a sad time for AMD) cause that's what they need to be selling right now.

So my recommendation pick up the 390. it trades blows with the 970 and 980.

What resolution?

you can always wait -> 2016 AMD gonna release 8GB version of Fury X. derp. (HBM2)

The Base model Fury has just arrived and it kicks the 980s teeth in even if the 980 is overclocked balls to the walls it's almost a tie but it still loses. I would definately get the Fury if I were you.

I don't think anyone has had any luck finding em.

They're out of stock for a reason.... cause it's damn good.

Read that it might be due to manufacturing but I have no idea. 390 seems to be at a fair price, the 970's are probably going to drop soon. 980ti looks promising, its not my money so if OP wants something right meow, 980ti.

4-way SLI'd Titan X's :^)

if 970's dropping would break nvidia pricing scheme. two of them (700 dollars) scale to just slightly better than a 980ti which is 650. Nvidia has always held to this sli pricing method.

970's are already matching the 390 MSRP on newegg after rebate. Rebates suck, but still.

Just saw this from HardOCP. http://www.microcenter.com/product/438841/geforce_gtx_970_video_card#

1080p for now and soon I will upgrade to a nice 1440p or 4k monitor if I see one for a good price

Then yeah. i would say a 390. Crossfire later if you want better performance at the higher resolution, but at 1080 and 1440, a 390 should be a great choice.

That's a seriously good price. I could get two of those and still wouldnt break the bank

Sure, that's a great idea. Why didn't I think of that?

i agree, thats not a bad idea.
especialy if you look at 4k, 390 crossfire with 8GB of memory buffer.

Please check ebay before you buy anything. My buddy bought two 290x's with waterblocks for under $500. He is maxing out 1600p on everything. There are quite a few high-end cards for cheap with all of the latest advances.

290x at $108:

buying used is a risky endevour... every used graphics card i've bought has died.

I dont know whether i should buy a card like 290x on ebay. Especially if it has the stock amd cooler
