What GPU should I get?

Those prices are stupidly high. I'd grab a decent 770:

It performs similarly to the 7970

That look cool but I got like 500.00 I wanted to put all of it on a graphics card. mainly for minecraft but I want to use a shader mod.

Ok well I think the 7970 is over priced. Unfortunately, most AMD cards are. This is because of crypto-currency mining. The 7970 and 280x are good cards, but I wouldn't spend $100 more on them over the 770.

The 770 will not struggle with Minecraft. You could run Minecraft with mods with a less capable card. Though, if you want to spend all your money, the 780 is the highest performing card that you can afford.

+1

Prices are rather ridiculous now in comparison to the performance you could get for your money a few months ago.

Thanks man I think I will Go with GTX 780 or GTX 780ti  Just want get the best card for the money :)

Take a look at the R9 290. It gives comparable performance. It's just a shame that it was a bit cheaper some months ago.

TBH a 7970/770 is probably going to be big overkill for shaders.

I took one more look at the 770 and like it higher clock speeds then the 780.                                                     What do you think about getting  4 GB version and me overclocking it myself?                                                                                                                                                                    Let me look at the R9 290 Most of R9 I have looked at would mean me having to swap out my power supply.

The 770 is clocked higher than the 780, but the 780 has much more power. Also the 4gb 770 is kind useless unless you play at more than 1080p. The 780 is just a better stronger video card.

Also the price on the 290 is more than $600 if you can even find one. the price used to be $400 but with the litecoin miners its gone up to over $600 for custom cooler versions.

clock speeds don't matter when you're comparing cross architecture.

I thought the same thing 780 looks better I think the 770 100.00 cheaper It mite be worth it right now.

Get the 2gb  Gtx 770, unless you plan on 1440p...

I think that is the way. I will get the 770 and save up for 780 Ti so if the prices go down I pick one up.

I mine all day to annoy the X86 users and buy new PowerPC chips

If you grab the 770 2GB, you will not be disappointed. You probably won't require a new GPU for 2-3 years.
