What games can you recommend?

Hi all!

Recently i have been replaying a lot of the games i own, but i'm almost done with most of them, so i have recently been looking for new games i haven't played before. I have downloaded the demo of Mass Effect 3 which i like, and i am currently considering buying it. But i haven't really been able to find many games, so i decided to ask online! :)

I have played the Half-Life series, Doom 3 (Only because i played 1 and 2 as a kid), Portal 1 and 2 (which are my favorite games) and Quantum Conundrum. I appreciate a good story with a plot that can't be figured out, fun and intense gameplay, and good graphics. If the game can put a tear in my eye, it's most apreciated too. I do not like games like Amnesia which are just for scaring you, and crazy splatter games is not for me either. So do you know of any games that fit my all or just most of my criterias? :D If the game has a demo, it would be awesome too ;) Also, any Call of Duty games is a no-go. I played a bit of MW2 and that was not a game i liked.

If your going to play Mass effect 3 I really recommend you lay the entire series and if you do that you'll be set for a while.

Elder scrolls games

Battlefield 3/ Battlefield Bad Company 2/ Battlefield 1942

Tomb raider classics 1-5 (you can get these on steam) these are worth it if you love the classic Tomb Raiders like me.

Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War 1-2 great games if you like this type of thing.

RUSE

Command and Conquer 1-3 (4 is bad in my opinion, so i do not recommend it)

C&C Red alert 1-3

Deus Ex

Saints Row 3 (mad but fun)

+1 For Recon those are great games. I've never played the previous Des Ex's but Deus Ex: Human Revolution was amazing.

Sleeping Dogs was pretty good.

I know you said no CoD games but CoD 4 nearly made me cry back then, anyone who's played the campaign probably knows what part.

Thanks for all the suggestions :) I've created a document with all the suggestions, so i can get to them later :) I have decided to go for the Mass Effect Trilogy, so that should keep me entertained for a while ;) After that i'll take a look at some of the other suggested games :) If anyone has any other suggestions i'll happily add them to my list :D Thank you again!

I highly recommend checking out some indie games like Braid, supermeatboy, Kentucky Route Zero, Antichamber, Super Brothers:Sword and Sworcery EP, LIMBO ect. there are alot of very good ones. Of course non-indie games are good too haha. Dragon Age:Origins, Skyrim, Dark Souls, Demon Souls, Bioshock series, any other Vlave game lol, The Witcher, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Assassin's Creed 1-Brotherhood, (Tbh I didn't like Revelations or 3), and there is a lot more I can name, I just can't think of any lol

Torchlight II is amazing, so is Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. I didn't pay attention to the story in either game so I can't comment on it, but they're both fun as hell to play. I usually listen to podcasts while playing them.

Wait, no one has recommended The Walking Dead yet?  That's a bit strange...
