What fps should i be getting?

I just installed a 9800 gt 512mb, the rest of my system is 3gb pc2-4200 RAM and Core 2 Duo @ 2.13ghz

what should my fps be in l4d and cs:s? L4D I'm getting about 40 average with everything on high, is that lower than it could be?

I believe your CPU Is bottlenecking it... What resolution do you play in though so we can have a better understanding it

I have a 8800GT, 3GB's of 800Mhz DDR2 Dual Channel Ram and a Q6600. All stock clocked, I get 55-65 FPS on TF2 all maxed out @ 1680x1050. On Vista btw.

well source games are more cpu intensive than gpu intensive

i have a 9800gt 512 i overclocked it to the ssc edition settings its stable =)

i get about 80 fps running at 1280X 1024 or the other way arround you know what i mean though

I have 2gb of ram and core 2 duo at 1.8ghz my cpu is bottle necking my gpuy but ehhh wtf

I get constant 60 in CSS and TF2, everything max, 1280x1024. My specs are:

3gz C2D

4GB 800mhz RAM

1GB HD4850.

I think everything is alright. I have a 2,3 Ghz C2D with a 4850 and im fine.

Edit: This comment was ment to the one who suggested a bottleneck.

eh, i think it would still get even better frame rates if the cpu was clocked higher.

im on vista with 1280x1024 res.

whats the gpu clocked at you have the msi version with the dual slot cooler that shit was made for overclocking go and over clock that bad boy thats what i did but i have the single slot and it runs at 35 idle and in the 50's playing games XD case cooling FTW!

Yeah my case cooling sucks and idling atm it's at 45

Bus clock: 660mhz Memory Bus: 950mhz

I'm guessing if i overclock it i'm gonna need to change the fan speed or its gonna overheat. Would rivatuner work?

i didnt but i have it set to automatic i used evga precision BTW

so the fan speed goes higher when gaming but you dont hear it if you ahve headphones/loud speakers or if your little sister is singing hannah montana lol(true experience)

My onboard video is bitching me ATM. Can't play HL2 yet.=( Though I still play it.

haha, 45C idling : 48C under load

thats because you have aftermarket cooler

but if i were to get your 9800gt i would of went with a 9800gtx its not the money thats in my way its the size i wanted a single slot solution vs preformance i mostly play source games
