So say I upgrade my computer's motherboard, which has an OEM license, would I need to buy a new copy of Windows? Thanks.
You do....But there is a way around that you can call microsoft and explain to them your computer broke down and you had to replace the motherboard as long as you still have the original disc/box and can prove its your copy thay will reactivate that copy for you.
This is the only time microsoft will give you any assistance with a oem copy.
oem versions do not offer any free Microsoft direct support from Microsoft
oem licenses are tied to the very first computer you install and activate it on
Are they tied directly to only the motherboard, or all the parts together?
Just the motherboard
Ok, thanks.
