This is a $1400 rig that will be used for mostly gaming and everyday computing, what do you think?
Note I would like to keep this rig single GPU.

i would say great rig but.... haha
4x4GB wouldn´t it be nicer to grab 2x8GB sticks instead?
Also those ram sticks are highprofile and will not fit in combination with that Phanteks cooler. You will need lowprofile ram.
i would recommend 2x8GB G.skill Sniper 1866mhz CL9 1.5V rams. Or G.skill Ares or something similar.
I use Corsair Vengeance LP my self in combination with the Phanteks PH-TC14PE.
Well the i5 supports quad channel memory so I figured I should utilize it.

lol no,
i5 is just dual channel. BUt you can use 2 modules per channel, make it 4 modules in total. But not quadchannel, just dual channel.
only X99 i7 or Xeon E5 cpu´s support quad channel memory.
yep - as above from Mystery ~ choose some low profile ram, imho save some cash and get lower speed ram you wont notice any difference in 99% of scenarios.
Id recommend changing to a single 12v rail psu - that evga one still uses an old design. That that you need much in the way of power for a 970 >> http://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-p1550gts3x, non modular but with that case you have the room to hide a bear so a few unused cables wont be a tough ask.

Better thermal compound, better quality power supply, dual channel RAM.
yea I would swap out that IceFuzion for mx-4 orCoollaboratory liquid pro stuff. Unless you build PCs for living.
A 128GB SSD won't last you long. Pick up a 1TB Caviar Blue
Ah Phanteks make their own tim for their coolers you should use that.
Phanteks thermal paste gets included with the cooler, its the same stuff as Noctua NH-T1
"op" started a new thread please continue on that one.
