For a 200 Euro build that looks pretty good. I built a similar system for a friend not long ago which uses a slightly different Gigabyte motherboard and an Intel Pentium G3460 but for general computing that system should be fine. My mothers computer has an Intel G2030 which is only slightly more powerful than the G1840 and she hasn't had any issues with performance so far and the G1840 should be more than enough for her needs. Quite obviously the only issue is the single 4GB stick which means you can't take advantage of dual-channel memory, this may impact performance for some tasks but as you plan on upgrading in the future it shouldn't be much of an issue in the long run.
Wow, amazing what 200 euros will get you. I would't worry too much about the single channel memory; I don't see memory speed being the bottleneck of this system.
Yes i-am quite pleasantly surprised as well. Just maybe thinking about the case.. but this is the best (decent) one i can find for the price.
Well a few Chrome tabs and a word document probaly won't ask for to much speed haha. And keep in mind she's most likely using 4GB 667Mhz dual memory right now.
just... no, And she already has one. She also studies and has to make reports and a desktop with separate keyboard monitor speakers and mouse is just wayy easier and comfortable then a laptop. Plus my sister uses that laptop mostly so thats taken ;)
(i dont live with my mother btw, so i won't be using the pc or laptop)
But i think spending twice as much on a cpu for a third increase in performance might be a bit to much. Unless she's really gaining with using 4 cores but i don't think that's the case.
The case has only one USB 3.0 and 2.0 port wich is sad.. and it's a bit flashy for a kitchen pc. But still a good build.
It's just that i don't think it's meant for this type of user.
