I've been using this shitty Brownsville gur itar foabout 4 years now (its completely broken). I was checking on eBay and found some pretty cool guitars. I'm on an extremely LOW budget. What do you think of the Epiphone Les Paul. This guy is only selling it for 130$.
hey im selling a Squier Stratocaster. ill sell it for 100 bucks obo. ill let the amp go for 40 bucks. ill also include everything that came with the guitar(it was originally purchased for $224), its brand new, only played it once, it was gift from my uncle. tell me if your interested! you can PM me or email me
its not bad if your on a budget.. i would check it out at music123.com and compare the price and make sure your getting an ok deal.. i was tempted to get an epiphone but waited and got a gibson sg instead

Nooooooooooooo, you'll regret it. I promise you in a year or two you'll be back saying it's a piece of crap. I know two guys who have owned it and after they got better and understood what they wanted out of a guitar they found that this had nothing of value and moved on. If anything you're better of getting:

Lol you're kidding right? I own both a Squier bullet strat (my first quitar) and the Epiphone Les Paul Special; Imo the Les Paul sounds better.
I didn't know you could still buy the bullet strat (I got mine 2 years ago for £89)
Though if you do decide to get the strat; I'd recommend setting it up; as i found mine had awfully low action.
I own 3 Squier strats, a bc rich, and an LTD. From my experience the strats (the Squiers) all sound much better than my friends Les Paul. It has a fatter and bassy-er tone, but the strat is much more versatile. You can play a variety of tones, from blues to classic rock. The only problem with the Strat is, as you said, setting it up. It's action is always too high (or low in your case). I personally prefer low action for sweeping. But it's your money so you do with it what you want. My recommendation would be the strat. You'll learn to admire the shape and sound.

Yeah don't get me wrong I like strats; I just didn't like that strat =P
I was thinking of saving up to get a Fender highway one strat. But also when i removed the scratchplate cos I was thinking of installing a killswitch; I found the wood underneath was all bubbley and stuff; and found a random piece of wire =S
But the guitar was pretty nice though.
If he wants to play blues/jazz classic rock strat is fine; otherwise Les Paul. But really both are good guitars.
Though a con I found the pickups picked up a lot of interference so i got lots of hissing which I don't get with the Les Paul. That's prolly the only complaint I'd have.
I've been playing guitar for 4 years, almost 5. i been using my first guitar (shitty Brownsville). The thing is completely busted. Its smashed up a bit, the input for the amp came of and the wire snapped. For about a half year i been playing with an electric guitar with no amp.
This is going to be my seventh year of guitar playing and I agree with spite, you're better off waiting it out and buying a more expensive guitar that will last you.
