What do you think of this build?

its between z390 boards(each are $30 off price tag):

I stream once in awhile but it is very rare. I will mostly be gaming and regular consumer use. I will be gaming at 1440p and want high fps and max settings. I am willing to go up to a 2080. I cant justify the price tag for a 2080ti. I will go with the 8700k as well because it will perform better. I was considering 9900k and was told it was not worth it for my usage and to get the 8700k instead.

I would say thats fair enough.
If you can afford the 8700K and add up to a RTX2080, then sure go for it.
But if you cannot afford that combo, then i would rather gimp down to a 9600K and still grab that RTX2080 instead.

I can afford it fortunately. I could even go 9900k and 2080 ti if i really wanted to, but that 2080ti is just ridiculously priced and not worth it. I cant justify that much on just 1 gpu. that gpu costs almost as much as this whole new/upgrade build!

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qNFXtg ā€¦seems to be the final build unless i go with the asus rog maximus xi hero mobo linked in above post instead of asrock tachi

Looks good.
When setting up the fans correctly, it should be whisper quiet under no load.

looks solid , i would still consider the 8086k but either way it is still a great build,
also add back in your 1tb ssd

I want one of the best CPUs out and it to last 5+ years with no performance drop off. I was originally going for 9900k and was advised against it. The 8700k was the suggested replacement for my usage so I will go with that. I will get a large capacity SSD at some point in time, I have a bunch of large capacity mechanical 7200rpm drive I need to use first. I want 2-3tb SSD so waiting for the price to drop some more.

thus why i recommend it the 8086k over the 8700ā€¦ keep saying the best .

the 8086k is a faster cpu . the difference is arguably negligible. but it is still a faster cpu.

The 8086k are just better binned 8700kĀ“s. For competetive overclocking, I can see the appeal, but not for every day gaming.

worth spending an extra $70 for 9700k ?

The 8700k has Hyperthreading, wich helps in productivity and streaming scenarios. For gaming, it does not matter.

thanks for the info. hyperthreading seems like it can get things done faster.

Wait, the 9700K does NOT have HT?

Whoa, it does notā€¦ weird.

Market segmentation. Plus games in wich HT matters are very rare.

a good, solid build, should be fine for next 4-7 years, depends on usage and system loading when using

If you do not plan to upgrade for years then its the best build IMO. i9 9900k is the fastest CPU you can get and RTX 2070 is more than capable for 1440p gaming or even some 4k gaming too.

this seems to be the final build unless anyone has other suggestions. I dont plan on upgrading anything for at least 5 years(MAYBE gpu). https://pcpartpicker.com/list/D8GpYT

Wonā€™t you run into RAM clearance issues with the d15?

Only with the fan.

Looks good to me, the Scythe mugen 5 is always a good option too with no clearance issues. Also, I havenā€™t had the best of experiences with zotac cards, so Iā€™d personally look for another brand if theyā€™re at the same pricepoint, however your mileage may vary.
