What do you guys think of this build?

Hey guys. So I'm building a PC mainly for editing/rendering videos and photos, as well as gaming (the main games I play are WoW, Mass Effect 1-3, Fallout 3, and Skyrim.) I've got this build setup to upgrade in the future because I don't currently have the funds to build what I'd like to. So here it is.

Intel i5 3570k, to be slightly overclocked and eventually replaced with an i7 quad core or possibly all the way to an i7 six core if I decided to go to LGA 2011 socket.

Corsair H60 liquid cooling. Comes with the i5 at discount from Newegg.ca (.com doesn't send to Canada... :( )

Asus P8Z77 - V LK Motherboard. Went with this one because I like Asus and it has 2 PCIe 3.0 slots and I will be upgrading to SLI and for $150, it's hard to beat.

2 X 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws X Series DDR3 1866 MHZ memory. It's got a good price and reviews. Went with a 2 X 8GB setutp to upgrade to more RAM.

EVGA GTX 660 Ti 3GB. I didn't want to go with a higher end card right aways to save on price, but I also didn't want to have play games on low settings until I have the cash for a better, so I went with this mid-to-high end card because I'll be able to afford another soon to run it in SLI.

ADATA S510 Series SSD 120GB. This will be running my OS and some highly used programs.

Seagate Barracuda ST1500DM003 1.5TB. Storage drive. Not a whole lot to say here.

Corsair TX850 PSU. Went with a larger PSU to support an SLI upgarde.

ASUS Blu-Ray player and CD/DVD Writer

Cooler Master HAF 932 Full Tower. Also considering NZXT Phantom Full Tower in red. I went with a larger more expensive tower because I don't want to have to upgrade my case anytime soon as they take up a lot of room.

Total for the build: $1400 CAD

Let me know what you guys think. Let me know if you have any suggestions on where to upgrade or where to save cash.

the 7870 is a better option than gtx660. stick with the HAF. the good phantom full towers are $250, and the old one's don't have usb3.0. you're probably better off with a heatsink such as noctua nh-d14 or thermalright silver arrow sb-e, rather than an h60.

Umm he put 660 ti which will hands down beat the 7870 even when both are overclocked (though with a good non-ref. cooler the 7870 will get really close). And the 660 ti you DON't need 3 GB VRAM unless you're going eyefinity. Just get the regular 2 GB and please get one with a non-ref cooler, e.g. not EVGA because the ref blower coolers suck AND are usually louder than the non-ref designs. Try the MSI PE, or the Galaxy or Gigabyte ones. Those have really good coolers on them,

Hmmm, considering that a 7950 is better than a 660 Ti( and when overclocked a little, a 670), and a 7870's performance is so close to a 7950, I'd say a 7870 is better. Plus with the improved drivers.

Will you be using Adobe programs that can take advantage of CUDA? If so, then NVidia it is.

But first, post the links and prices.

I'll be using a lot of Adobe programs that use CUDA. Which is why I went for Nvidia over AMD. I grabbed the 3GB version because I will be running high resolutions like 5760x1200. Although I'm wondering if the extra RAM will help all that much. Can anyone let me know?

Thought so, NVidia it is. And yes, the extra ram will benefit you at that resolution, but I hope you don't plan to max out games at that res.

No, there will be no maxing games at that setting. It will be for ocasional gaming at that res, but mainly for better multi-tasking and rediculous rendering.

Then I guess your all set.
